In this weeks video we tell you EXACTLY what we charged to build 5 houses in Berkshire. When starting a construction company, the pricing can be so daunting, so we hope to help you with that and again provide total transparency. This channel is to give you a genuine account of what it is like building a construction company.

Great vid, On your other pricing vids you mentioned the brickwork in m2, in this one you mentioned the size in square footage( both floors ? ) Is there a reason for this ? Also do you factor in the logistics of getting the bricks to where they need to be i:e - whether there will be a loadall machine or ladder work for the 2nd lifts and cut ups etc. Keep the content coming

So on the substructure been an extra and over? What do you mean by that, priced a few jobs where I've come unstuck when pricing the sub( on extensions)?
@Levelupconstructionmedia
@Levelupconstructionmedia Жыл бұрын
So by extra and over I mean it’s not included in the price. We always state when quoting “this price is for above dpc, all substructure to be extra unless stated”. It can be difficult to give an accurate price for substructure because a Lot of the time the ground is all different heights and the footings may be out of level or not at the height agreed. Sub structure on a price, footings on a measure or if it’s really bad day work. Hope that helps mate

Going to do a video on this one. I think being crystal clear on the type of work you want to do and exactly who your clients are. Once you know who you are trying to attract it’s easier to market to them and speak their language. A lot of the time people try and be everything to everyone and in the process confuse he public. I’d anyone is confused they won’t use you. There are also great resources like LinkedIn where you can get in front of the decision makers in the company’s.

Nobody objects to you or anyone else making money for your work. If you're not working to a 40% margin, then you run the risk of unforeseen problems, economic shocks, and bad customers not paying bringing your company down. You do a hard day's work and should be rewarded for it. The problem in the UK is not people working to make a profit, it's the people who own vast untaxed wealth who DON'T work. The UK has become a tax haven for the wealthiest (and some of the nastiest) people in the world who contribute nothing to our society but take billions in revenue out of the system and into offshore tax havens. You actually MAKE something useful with your work, unlike the parasites who sit atop vast wealth and assets and make the poor working people support them.

You gave the plot prices ,but how did you equate to the plot price,per thousand, per m ,if so how much were these did you get paid a solid measurement, or were there extra prices fir plinths arches, trays etc if so what were they did you have use of a fork lift if so did you have to pay for that ,was the mortar ready mix or knocked up in a mixer ,that would have been more helpfull for people wanting to start out

Hi Nick. As I mentioned in a previous video I will discuss everything other than our meter rates as our competitors watch these too. In regards to extras for plinths and arches are priced accordingly as extra and over. We used a forklift and the driver was provided by us and the actual forklift was paid for by the developer. It was mixer muck yes. I will provide as much info as I can but obviously we are actively trading and not about to loose jobs by telling our rates. Thanks

My biggest reason for maybe considering going self employed would be pricing and other business in and outs. I don't want to rip people off, but at the same time if you're a newly qualified self employed builder or whatever you can't charge too high because you're not that skilled, you can't cock up a job and expect big bucks, but at the same time you need to charge enough so that you can meet your needs 😬😬 It's a delicate balance imo. But what do I know? Would love to know what you think.

I think knowing our worth Is key, it’s very easy to “buy” work by being so cheap but that is no good to anyone. I am going to do a video on our monthly outgoings as this has to be factored in when pricing work too. I Defo think to do your own work there needs to be a vast amount of experience in your field.
