As a South African, Peyper has always been an amazing ref in my eyes but he had an absolute shocker in this game... He single-handedly nearly costed La Rochelle is this final. I'm glad justice was served in the end. Some of the Leinster antics at the breakdown and the maul situations were super, super sketchy...

First and foremost, congratulations to ROG and La Rochelle as an Irishman, the best team in Europe and have been the last 2 years, incredible team, incredible coach, incredible organization. Well deserved winners and going to Dublin to face Leinster is a daunting task, they had their plan and executed it brilliantly. Hard luck to Leinster, brilliant effort but sadly there is a lot to address. It's worrying that the majority of the players who will make up the Ireland side for the world cup were out there tonight and again they failed at the final hurdle. Bullied physically like they have been for several years now. It isnt acceptable and frankly Leinster have been serious underachievers in recent years. 1 european cup in the last decade with the squad they have is a poor return. In addition, the plan for resting players for these big games is continuing to fail. Someone said it perfectly on another video, to win a world cup you need to play at least 3/4 big games back to back to back, and this Leinster side keep being unable to do that. Something has to change plain and simple. And sadly, like ive said the last 3/4 years, I think some Leinster fans need to turn the arrogance down a lot, the sad truth is Leinster, while still being a very good side, are not the unbeatable team some of their fans think they are.

What a game, what an atmosphere. Everyone was shocked when Leinster went into 17-0 lead after 12 mins. The only wrinkle was hitting the post in exactly same fashion while trying to convert. La Rochelle kept the faith and what an ending.

My analysis as a French supporter is that Leinster showed their main flaws in this match, they are a team that does not have sufficient physical intensity in the total duration of a match. For me, it is a team that plays a lot but in very short and short durations, beyond a certain number of game phases if it does not manage to take points then it gets bogged down and exposes itself to the opponent. La Rochelle is the nemesis of this team, it's the only one that can counter the Irish province, because the La Rochelle club has a game precisely built on long-term physical intensity. I think that La Rochelle "voluntarily" left the first half to Leinster, making sure not to be too far behind in points and then setting up a trap in the second half by counting on the drop in physical energy of Leinster. This team does not benefit from any adaptability. Congratulations to La Rochelle. They played a blinder in the second half. Leinster on the other hand choked big time. To go 17-0 up at home in a Final and then absolutely collapse in the second half is unforgivable at this level. Outmuscled again by a superior pack for the fifth year in a row. Beating Dragons, Edinburgh and Zebre by 50 points means nothing when Leadership and bench players cost you 2 metres out from opponents line at 78 min. Best team won

A 0-17 après 12 minutes, chez l'adversaire, soutenu par 50 000 fans, et avec un carton jaune, tu te dis c'est pas possible (même avec la carte kiwi), le cochon est dans le maïs, c'est foutu. Mais les mecs ont su garder la tête froide et les idées claires. Et les mouches ont changé d'âne assez rapidement finalement. Dès l'essai de Danty, les Leinsteriens ont commencé à douter car ils ont vu que pour les Rochelais, le match n'était pas fini. La seconde période a été passée dans le camp irlandais et à force de coups de boutoir, la cabane est tombée sur le chien. Bravo le Stade Rochelais, immense champion d'une compétition où, rappelons-le, les clubs Sud-Africains participaient pour la première fois. En parlant de Sud-Africain, il faut noter l'arbitrage ahurissant de Jacob Peyper, qui en voulant favoriser le jeu, a laissé faire au delà du raisonnable en permettant aux joueurs de plonger dangereusement dans les mêlées ouvertes et n'a pas sifflé les nombreuses entrées sur le côté des Leinsteriens, leur jeu au sol et leurs nombreuses positions de hors jeu. Il a fini par les sanctionner d'un carton jaune à 10 minutes de la fin après de multiples actions d'anti-jeu alors que côté LAR, Kerr-Barlow a pris un jaune dès sa première faute. Tout était prévu et organisé pour un sacre de Leinster, mais La Rochelle a dit non. Bravo les Maritimes, vous êtes les meilleurs (de la part d'un Toulousain).

La Rochelle shows how important it is to stay calm, let the storm pass and believe there is light at the end of the tunnel. Looks like Leinster made the same mistake as last year: once they have the lead, they settle for 3 points penalties instead of going for a try. Isn't insanity defined as "repeating over the same thing and expecting a different result"? Really sad because they have such a great team.

Geez. Imagine the season that Leinster had. Probably a +/- 95% win rate and nothing to show for it. For 2 years in a row. Great start as always for Leinster, but I think what we have seen in this match and against Munster is that when teams that play against Leinster stay in the game , they can upset the Leinster machine.. just to be critical, James Lowe is overrated, yes packs a long kick, and is fast but that’s just about it..Potter is a penalty machine at the scrum, never carries into contact. Leinster players were so focused on the Ref, questioning decisions , with hands up at every ruck, yet they were diving into the ruck.. Leinster are a great team but I think this tactic of resting the internationals and only playing them in the bigger games has also gotten into their head. .. Gibson park arguing with Ref, for example. Sexton apparently had a go at the Ref in the tunnel. Hopefully from here onwards they will respect the URC and play full strength teams , so that they are ready for such games. Congratulations to ROG and his team.

To have a good match, you need two good teams and that's what we had the chance to see ! I particularly liked Leinster's first try, a very, very nice combination that left everyone on the spot, instead of ROG and Donnacha RYAN, I'll save it for later... It's true that everyone saw us losing, playing a match against the "best team" at the moment, in front of thousands of supporters and millions of Irish people, in front of their television sets...it's just magic, thanks to both teams for having made us live a moment of great intensity. Pour faire un beau match, il faut deux belles équipes et c'est bien ce que nous avons eu la chance de voir ! J'ai aimé particulièrement le premier essais du Leinster, très très belle combinaison qui a laissée tout le monde sur place, à la place de ROG et Donnacha RYAN , je la garde pour plus tard... C'est vrai que tout le monde nous voyait perdre , jouer un match contre la "meilleure équipe" à l'heure actuelle , de surcroit chez elle devant des milliers de supporters et des millions d'Irlandais devant leurs postes de télévision...c'est juste magique, merci aux deux équipes de nous avoir fait vivre un moment de grande intensité.

I'm so glad I stayed up to 4am to watch this, what a game!

La Rochelle Victory is a mix of everything. Résilience, Heart, strategy, forwards, adversity. They had everything against them: stadium, Travel, crowd, ref, hometown organisation... But they showed that Rugby is a sport where the best on the pitch is winning. Leinster and Ireland fans were taught a Big lesson of humility here. This 'give us the trophy' attitude, lack of honesty and lack of respect towards french players, clubs and O'gara severely backfired and it's not finished... Leinster is still a formidable unit, but their fans are the worst of this sport, sorry, but it had to be said.. French, SA, scot and nz staffs certainly all watched this match of 'Ireland' with interest. It could lead to big consequences in september.

La Rochelle were simply brilliant. Everything was against them and setup for a Leinster victory; it felt like even the organisers and media were taking the match as a guaranteed outcome. Certainly the biased Irish commentatprs were. Arrogant Leinster fans had this coming. I love the smell of hubris in the morning. I reckon ROG has noted and dislikes the Leinster self-love too, if the team was chocolate it would eat itself. Until Leinster learn some humility they will go on losing these finals.
