The Wedge went XL on May 17, 2023 in Newport Beach courtesy of a strong south swell! Triple overhead sets displayed big wave surfing at California's heaviest shorebreak. Were any of the set waves Surfline Twenty Foot Plus worthy?
Surfers in this video include Jamie O'Brien, Max Beach, Sage Burke, Nolan Rapoza, Brad Domke, Molly Tuschen, and others.
California's south swell run may have peaked but there's still epic surf to be scored this week.

The waves get sandwiched in between the shoreline and the jetties on the other side like a cone and with a steep bottom that brings nice perfect big waves. short ride but big.

Whats more difficult? Getting a overhead wave at Wedge, barreled and getting out w/o being slammed into the dirt. Or Getting a barrel at Pipeline?

Those wet suits do a good job of hiding the massive balls they have for riding those waves. People have died from injuries at the wedge.
