I've decided to try and complete the second nickel coin roll hunting series books to see how many bank boxes it takes to fill the entire Dansco Album for Nickels dated 1938-1998. There are 136 slots to fill in Series 2 Books and the mission is to BEAT the 167 boxes it took for Series 1.
This is part 104 of the series (Boxes 78-79 for Series 2) and I do plan on updating it from each nickel box I hunt from this point forward until the nickel coin collection is completed!
I had no idea I was about to hunt the BEST nickel box I have ever hunted!

FYI - The Dansco Album does not have spots for some coins but we'll be hunting these boxes of nickels for Silver Nickels, Buffalo Nickels, Proof coins, Old Jefferson Nickels (namely semi-key and key date nickels), Liberty V Nickels and 2009's for their low mintage.

I had a huge nickel collection dump in 2020. In a single bank bag of $200, I got hundreds of 40s and 50s nickels with a ton of semi-keys, and 13 V nickels. If you keep hunting, it'll happen eventually.

I opened up just several rolls had 5 war nickels and I found a v nickel a 1903 in great shape and a bunch of older nickel and I found a awesome 64 nickel was all most full steps the last line had a little scratch on it that was a bummer but it had a mirror look to it so I am not for sure what I got on this coin I thought about sending it to ngc they wanted me to send it end to see what I really got if it is nothing they just going to send it back to me for nothing they going to pay for it all I can't beat that

35 years ago, I got 4 rolls of nickels from my bank where the newest coin was 1944. All 4 rolls had nothing but V nickels, Buffalo nickels, and Old Jeffs with many war nickels. The wrappers were real old looking and I still have these 4 rolls - intact - to this day. Kind of a time capsule of what was in circulation during world war 2.

Wow.. that’s incredible! That first box almost doubled my career war nickel finds! After the first couple of loaded rolls, I can’t believe you didn’t find any buffaloes or key dates! Amazing hunt!

Between two rolls you found 10 war nickels and that is more than I have ever found in a box!!!! That is the best roll of coins from the bank that I have ever seen myself or on KZfaq! That is the most amazing thing ever!!!!!

Wife and I finished a $200 bag of nickels recently. Found three Proofs, a bunch of 1999 thru 2005 in both mint marks that are uncirculated. The normal amount of 40’s and 50’s and two 1938 Phillies and two silvers. Pretty good bag.

Awesome nickel box! That is the type of box we all patiently wait for when hunting. Found a collection dump of pennies last winter. 900 wheat and Indian head pennies.

This is why whoever the executor of your estate know about your stack and coin collection and educate them on the worth of your collection and even give them instructions on how to sell it so it doesn’t just get dumped at the bank for face values

Congrats, Rob! War nickel bonanza! I have a video on my channel that was about my best bank box. I didn't have nearly as many war nickels, but I had a ton of buffalos. Over 600 total finds.

When I was 13 (7 yrs ago), I found a 1950 D nickel in my mom's purse. She let me keep it, and I gave it to my brother for his collection because I didn't have any folders for nickels at the time. Now I'm kinda sad that I don't have it for my collection, but at least I know it has a good home in his.

Thanks for the amazing video!!! That is a crazy amount of old nickels!!! I would really like to find a box like that! My best box of coins hunted had 3 silver quarters and my oldest nickel find is a 1907 v nickel. I also found two 1916 Wheaties metal detecting. Thanks for all of the great content!

A roll of nickels is 40 coins. The chance of an ender being what you want is only 2.5%. So I say enders don't say much. Great video!

I have had small collection dumbs in sealed boxes but my best score was a older lady dropped off 6 to 700 dollars of her deceased husband's coin collection. She dumped them before I got to the bank looking for coin and the manager asked me if I wanted them. Found 15 to 20 war nickles v nickels buffalos and a shield and a giant stack of Wheaties

I had my best nickel box last week, 2 war nickels, a 1917-s Buffalo, and a 1985 offstruck nickel, plus a bunch of 50’s 40’s and a couple 30’s

I wouldn't be surprised at all if some of those were from my collection. Mine was stolen a couple months ago. If so, all I can say is enjoy.....and I'm glad they're in good hands now. 🙂

My friend buys boxes so I been opening them I found like 4 war nickels and a v nickel in 1 box I was so hype especially 2 silvers in a roll! From other boxes I even found a buffalo it's always fun hunting! Happy Hunting everyone

Think we've both gotten there. Had a vf 38s, 60p fs, and had 3 buffalos or war nicks each of my last 3. Cannot wait for my next box

I've had luck with several small nickel hunts. Got a roll at a gas station with a 39 P in it. Got 10 rolls at a chase bank at school and found 2 buffalo nickels in the same roll and a 50 P mixed in as well. I also saved 5 rolls for some reason and got a 39 P in one of the rolls.
