There is a literally a song spelling HIPPOPOTAMUS here in Nigeria. Every child knows it, and that's the only way I spell it. The song goes as follows: H I P for the Hip for the hippopo P O P O for the Hippopo T A M U S for the hippopotamus tamus tamus.
