These were some pretty EPIC & VERY FUN to Ride Elevators located in one of the tallest buildings in Montreal's Textile District!
These elevators are Completely Original Otis Black Button Elevators, and I'm sure you guys are probably thinking that that's nothing too exciting because even though Otis Black Button is Vintage and thus is still kind of cool, Otis Black Button is also one of the EASIEST kinds of Original Vintage Elevators you can find, and they're common enough in some areas (this city being one of them) that enthusiasts in places that still have lots of Black Button Otises' find them to be boring and understandably so.
But let me ask you this though.... Have any of you guys ever seen a set of Otis Black Button Elevators with an EXPRESS ZONE!?!?
Aside from the Citrus Tower and 1000 Islands Tower which are Observation Towers with 2 stops and a single elevator, I certainly have not!!! And I don't think any other enthusiasts on KZfaq have gone into Office Buildings with banks of Black Button Otises' with an Express Zone!
Finding an Otis Lexan or Otis Touch Elevator in a High Rise Office or Hotel building with an Express Zone is already rare enough as is, but I'm sure you guys have all seen videos of such systems on KZfaq. Prior to me finding these and filming these however, I don't think there has been a single find of a Otis Black Button Express Elevator (outside of the two aforementioned Observation Towers) that has ended up on KZfaq!!
Well, NOW there IS! :)
And let me tell ya, these elevators are pretty awesome and a LOT of fun!!! These elevators go pretty fast for the travel distance they serve, and when you combine that with the Original Fixtures, EPIC Relays, INSANE Classic Leveling and Original "Humming" Door Operators, it makes for what is an INCREDIBLY FUN and charming Elevator riding experience!!
Something else however you guys may have never seen before though is a building with so little floors having an Express Zone like this, and you may be wondering why that is, but there's a reason for that. This building was originally built in 1960 and has two addresses and entrances, 9310 which is where these elevators are located, and 9320 St. Laurent which has another set of elevators serving it. This building was originally 9 floors when it was built, and the top 2 floors that these elevators serve were added a few years after the building was completed.
Unfortunately, the elevators serving the first 9 floors of this building were modernized with Dewhurst (former Autotronic), but these elevators are thankfully still original, and judging by the new Call Stations which look to in fact be pretty new, the future is currently looking bright for these elevators. At least for now.
With that all being said, enjoy the video of some rides on some EPIC & EXTREMELY RARE Otis Black Button EXPRESS Elevators!!!
Installed in Circa 1960s.
