Yo man, Cliff Burton is NOT the lead singer of Metallica. He was the original bassist and he died on the Tour Bus in 1986 while the band was touring for Master of Puppets. You're thinking of James Hetfield. But no, this Shadows Fall vocalist doesn't sound anything like James.

Shadows Fall are from Boston. "This song is about how people, TV, and other influences can convince you to be something you are not, and you stay that way because you think it makes you better or more popular, but inside you do not really feel that way and it disguises your true identity. This band is so underrated. They are awesome. The drummer of this band is now the drummer of the band overkill and was the drummer in a band called flotsam and jetsam. He’s on twitch and does live streams with him playing songs from the bands he’s in and plays songs from other bands as well. His name is Jason bittner. Check em out.

I have played this song a lot on guitar hero back then. It always brings back memories from my childhood. I discovered this band when I was like 7-8. I am 18 and I still listen to them to this day!

If there was a Big 4 for metalcore like there is for thrash, these guys may very well could've made the list, or just barely missed. Killswitch, All That Remains, Shadows Fall, Bleeding Through, Poison the Well, Heaven Shall Burn. OGs.

Shadows Fall should've been huge... I saw them live in Southsea (UK) touring with Killswitch Engage, God Forbid and Chimaira back around 2004. Cracking gig. Their shit still sounds great today.

I saw shadows fall at "Sounds of the Underground" at The Myth in Minnesota back in 06 I think. Got to meet the band and they singed a CD I bought for me. I believe they played this song that day too. Great day!

I've always believed he was singing about how ignorance is bliss and not everything should be taken for face value. Like the government for example. Everything sounds nice and dandy on paper but there's always some sort of motive behind each move, some people just don't want to hear about that stuff. I'm a bit of a mix, I want to know The dirt but at the same time staying in my own lane and worrying about myself is where I'm happiest. As long as you have a nice balance of both I think you'll be just fine.
