Old Richard still looks the same. Some of my best times falling are with my dad and brothers. They all put the saw down. I dont think I ever will. I love it far too much. I was a heli-logging rigger in BC interior for better part of 10 years, mostly lighter lift machines back in the 90's. I worked under the first K-Max in Canada, but mostly Bell machines (204, 205, 212 & 214), Kamov, Sikorsky 58 & 61, we used to call out on the radio "here comes the bus!" when the sikorsky came to grab turns Lol. Worked with the sky crane once too and that is by far the most impressive machine. Another wild machine is the Bell 214, that bird can dead lift enough weight to pull its own guts out! I've seen a 214 more than once being pulled out of the sky by over 10,000lbs! Been all over the province and saw some wild shit including some nasty crashes. I always look back fondly on those days and have never found anything that comes even close to as exciting. I have some old footage I'd like to upload but in those days I was using a camcorder haha.

This is a real man's job. Hell of a job gentelmen, god i love real content. The skill level of everyone involved here is amazing, RESPECT.

I love working in this environment, going target shooting after works, preparing tents..building fire..

I spent a month once cutting firewood from fire line knock down areas, and it was some of the hardest work I ever did. That was nothing compared to this, and respect to you who do this. Amazing!

I helicopter logged in Alaska back in the 1990s and it doesn't look like much as changed since then. I really like watching your videos, takes me back to those good old days.

Always mixed emotions seeing those old trees come down. You skill and filming are much appreciated. I loved when you didn’t take the side cover off to get the chain on the sprocket, just put you knew into that light bar and bent it enough to get the chain off, easy as pie. My great uncle Clarence Darrach was a lumberjack in BC until he was very old. Amazing work... nice to have helicopter service for the selective logging. Those trees were definitely end of life and ready to sequester into beautiful homes and artifacts for centuries.

Wow, what a job, no slack arses as far as i can see. Everyone is working flat out. You guys are really earning your pay. No wonder timber is so expensive, even in nz. I heard that we were using helicopters on selective logging, too. Thanks for the hour long vid. It was great. No scardy cats riding in the helicopters. Bugger all to stand on around those big trees.

Helilogged myself. Off of Devastation Bay, South of Kitimat, just east and southeast of Devastation Bay. Time of my life...all barge work, and ship sleep...constant tidal effects. I'd do it again today at almost 50!!

I'm not a logger but I started watching because of the beautiful scienery you show. Bur I'm also a mother and yiu scare the H out of me. you need to add acrobatic logger to your title. You do way more dangerous move then any acrobatic act I ever saw. Please tell me your mother does not watch these viedos. I can't imagine how scared she must be knowing both you and your dad are doing this crazy work so I can sit on a wood toliet. I loved the drop start while perched on top of a thin stump , it is incredible how much the Sky crane can lift. The amount of fuel that the crane burns will also help make Canada a warmer place to live, might even be able to grow avocados on those hills after the logs have gone.

That was wild how on the first day that big one threw that smaller tree sideways standing straight up yet. Man the forces that it takes is awsome to see. Wish I couldve seen how far it went. Lucky it wasnt at you. Damm dangerous work up in them hills

LOL, I remember having to plant heli-blocks....All the slash was hell to navigate at times!!! At least when they yard, or skyline the slash gets moved and opens up the ground!!!! The heli rides were the best, the downwash at the end of a hot day was nice!!!
