He ended the revolution in France, managed to recreate a state, an economy, that's not lousy. He made mistakes yes, but his only big mistake (administratively speaking), have form german identity by forming manageable states from the messy HRE.

9:00 When "Viking" hits. *Charles Nove Voice* After Davouts rear guard was routed at the battle of Vyazma, Ney's III corps took charge of the rear guard. A natural Commander and instinctive tactician, he could inspire or bully other men into superhuman feats of bravery and endurance. Outnumbered 10 to 1 and Rejecting calls to Surrender, he crossed the frozen Dnieper river at night, personally pulling men to safety who fell through the ice. Surrounded and down to 800 fighting men, they formed square and kept pushing. Ney was more than a commander to the army, he was its talisman and the army rejoiced at news of his escape. Napoleon called him "the bravest of the brave" Ney would continue to lead the rear guard and legend has it he was the last man to cross the frozen Niemen river into Poland.
