A soldier and his squad were flying over enemy airspace, memories of home flooding through his head. He had just turned 18, and he was already enlisted in a special mission. “T minus 2 minutes till drop,”Came the voice over the loudspeaker. He inhaled and exhaled deeply, readying himself for the task ahead. He checked his AR-15, out of nervous habit, made sure his sidearm was loaded and ready. Gas mask around his neck, he checked his parachute. “10 seconds till drop.” The bay door opened. He looked at his friends. The same solemn faces and expressions were all he found. The voice counted down. “3, 2, 1.” The soldiers jumped out the bay door, into the enemy airspace. Several hundred feet below, he saw lights of a middle silo, four missles encased in metal housing. As he got closer, he noticed small dots, some walking, some scrambling to various silos. “This is it boys,” came the voice of a fellow soldier. “Fight with honor” another said, “and die with Valour.” Finished the young recruit. Still a few hundred feet in the air, the marines deployed their parachutes, gliding silently into the factory, using the cover of the silos to prevent hostile entities from viewing them. “Masks on.” Came the gruff voice of the Mission Leader. Slowly and precisely the Ops team glided to the ground, using standard procedure to land. Silencers on, they unclipped their parachutes and scanned the area, training their weapons in various directions. “Silo 1 first.” Came the voice again. The soldiers surged in, peppering their enemies with .223 caliber bullets. “Ringo, your up.” A man seeming to be the same age of our soldier jogged up to the control panel, whizzing away, key clicks filling the room. “Done chief” voiced the soldier. Another man walked up and placed a C4 charge. “Charge is set to detonate in 10 minutes sir.” “Move on to silo 2.” They cleated silo 2 and 3 with likewise precision, moving on to silo four with 5 minutes left. As they kicked in the door to the silo, a soldier bearing an AK-47 opened fire, hitting two of the special ops soldiers, causing them to fall to the ground, motionless. “Dammit!” Cried the captain. “Take him out!” The young soldier popped up and with precision accuracy drilled the opposing soldier with dead aim, blood flying everywhere. As he fell, the AK sprayed up, hitting the captain. “Aggh!” He yelled and fell to the ground, sprawled out. The remaining soldiers cleared the room. Sirens now blared throughout the compound, obviously attracting guards that weren’t already alerted to the gun fire. “Charges planted!” “Go go go!” Came t he voice of the co-leader, as they ran out the door, the soldiers heart stopped. The soldiers were still alive. “Wait! He yelled. The co-commander spun around. “Recruit, lets go!” He screamed. “No! They’re still alive!” “Follow orders! Leave them!” The recruit shook his head. The screams of the commander still echoing through his head. Summing up his strength, he picked the two soldiers up, and ran towards to the others. Once again he stopped. “Commander!” He heard shots of gun fire, and felt a searing pain arc across his calf. Just when he thought it was the end, his fellow soldiers picked up the commander and laid down cover fire against the enemy. “Go go go!” As he yelled, silo 1 erupted. A fellow soldier was already at work with bolt cutters against the fence. As the fence opened, silo 2 blew. “Run!” The soldiers poured out into the surrounding wilderness. “He heard more shots and felt more pain, but kept going. His ears were ringing and the weight of his fellow soldiers weighed him down, but he kept going. As he heard the last silos explode, one phrase splashed across his consciousness: “Fight with honor.
