I can attest that as a Day1 player who was on a break during Karina, I die a little bit inside every time someone calls Karina the most important anti-cleave character. True despair over the chances of getting a rerun.

Same story. Had no opportunity to play during her banner and now she is everywhere. SG can easily release her under different "Skin"(to prevent 2 same units use) and call her "Spring Madness Karina" etc.

Been ready for this, you see Legend review or a top Emperors and you just feel like you need to uninstall. You are more relatable to a lower geared player even with your decent gear.

@@GreaterSociety Not wrong but I think most longterm e7 players recognize that RNG gave them the gear they have to deal with. Tsu acknowledges it himself because how do you exactly outspeed a 320 Ran if RNG gave you no top tier speed gear. You simply can't. When you see 315 Peira's, 290 Biseria's and Midnight Lilias with better damage stats then yours but 40 speed faster...you just get the feeling you are forever outclassed. Tsu gets emperor despite weaker gear. He's the everyman that succeeds against players with insane gear using techs and experience. That's straight up admirable. It's literally why I was looking forward to this.

@AnomalyVoid You're pretty on point. Most of my peers have outspent me by insane margins. I have only every bought 1 gear pack just to see the fuss. I have to be smart to win cause it sure as shit isn't the gear. I expect to get gear gapped every game.

Thanks for the review! Some ideas I'll try to implement in the future for sure! Couldn't make my 2nd emperor this season despite actually playing more games than the previous one. I felt "Unit Gapped" couldn't deal with Laia, Injury never really seemed to make a difference (will have to try aravi next time), couldn't deal with DDR (no moonbunny or ml sharun), and nothing really helps with ml poli that much. I can't pre-ban all of them so it really felt like just pick your poison and lose no matter what.

8:34 speak the truth. On my main account when I got several +20 pieces of speed gear, I started playing aggro/cleave and never looked back. And Albedo is better than what most ppl think. Thanks to her I got thru this tricky meta and got to masters on my slow Alt account.

I'm thankful I got Karina back when I was playing this game very casually, now I came back to the game and I want to go into RTA and I don't have her artifact. from what I understand I can use noble oath but the stats ii need are a bit different, how viable is she without her artifact?

With Noble Oath, she's great versus Cleave still. Versus Aggro players she's a lot worse though. You can still make it work though.

Is it worth building 2 Albedo, one on aurius and the other on 3f? I spent 700 bms and got 3x Albedo but no 3F. Or i should just stick 1 build.

As a chosen stardard player. I finish at rank 2000. Not to bad for being away from the game for 2 years and losing a while 1.5 weeks of decay when I got sick. The meta is ok but jenua and ss Pol really messed up the meta for me. I don’t have as many counter picks. I was ok and frustrated at the same time. Bc I know I am a better player than I missed I feel I left something on the table this season. But also realize this was my first full rta back in 2 years. So been farming really hard and need some molas to build a couple units in wait. To really be ready for next year

Good Video. I've played for 4 months, this was my first season of RTA and I luckily finished in masters. I think your overview about the state of the game at the beginning is super on point. This might be the most cap thing I'll ever say, so I would love your opinion on it. If I could go back 4 months, or give advice for what a new player should build, I might tell them to go straight to cleave. As you said in the beginning, standard requires a very large pool of units. And its feels just a resource prohibitive as cleave. Needs laia and sweet maricale imprints, maxxed out elbris, candy is non-negotiable , and a slew of limited/unobtainable units and artis such as karina, rocket punch, sole consolation, lulucar, rimuru, ed (when he was on destro to beat cleave), etc. Meanwhile cleave has a lesser amount of mls needed, much more accessible rbgs, imprints are more important for 4 stars than 5 stars, and a lower diversity of artis needed (while more quantity is def needed). Take d-corv on first ml blessing to crutch for gw and serve as an anchor. Granted there is still alot of variance due to the gear requirements, but I think it might be an interesting thought experiment. Thanks for the video, account reviews are super fun to watch because there are alot of implied thoughts of how someone is handling a given meta.

Great user name btw. Love that meme. You're both right and wrong. Standard requires more units but worse gear. Cleave needs less units...but you need to have privileged tier gear. If your gear sucks as cleave, you're not going very far unless you know your drafts down pat like the homie Lucina.

Also if you build your Beehoo with less attack you can 1 tap joshua with his s1. Just need to not trigger J's S2 with your initial hit. Makes him worse vs ML Landy though.

Missing Karina during my 2 year hiatus has me hurt. Between her a ML Landy I'm struggling to get my bearings back. This video really helped though. I at least now know how these characters can be built and their gimmicks.

I had no success with her this season but I know she works because I've lost to her and I've seen Hez carry with her. I don't have the gear to support a great one anymore after building Giga Thicc Albedo & Carmin. She's Tier 3 imo.

I think the game needs a breakthrough system like honkai impact 3rd. To summarize it was a system they had that separated the veterans from the new players. All new players were in a bracket all their own and once you reach a certain level they can choose to breakthrough which unlocked new level of gears and content that were much more difficult without proper teams, gear, and level. You have a choice to breakthrough so you don't have to face the hardcore veterans until you are ready but you also miss out on higher tier gear. This could be implemented with the awakening update if they ever do it. Veterans can jump in and access the awaken systems while those still building up gears and units work their way up.

it can't work because to reach even just the end of chapter 2 you are already forced to have a good set of gears. in honkai there are side quests to make it less repetitive, but in epic seven it's all just about grinding. get this, there's really nothing to do in epic seven if you don't farm gears. not 6 stars and at least not almost fully awakened characters are also weak. so a breakthrough system right there will not work as well. in the smallest of words, honkai has an open world why that idea works. a breakthrough system may have worked if they went about the p2w category of awakening potential. but right now the game is very friendly on new players.

The only thing that would need gatekeeping is RTA, and there's already a level requirement for it, and then you get put into a ranking where you should be. There's no sense in adding more restrictions.

I had that one game vs Nakhwol + Lua and 2 control units with 0 dmg. I banned their only dmg which was BLidica. They banned my Rem. I had Arowel, Candy, Lermia and Winter. All my party got locked up but as soon as he did it I controlled his Nakhwol with Winter alone, and slowly he grinded my 32k hp Arowell and to half hp other units. Once Nakhwol was done and debuffs went out all I had to do is one salvo and one ult with Lionheart. Oh that was a long game xD

I wouldn't think that way. You can still do everything the game has to offer with far less gear and characters than I have. It's only when you go for the highest tiers that the problems show up. With the new balance changes and the 3rd Pick being unbannable.... things are looking up!

It takes to long to get to champ or above like that’s a very fun part of the game but you need units you need gear and you need mls god forbid legend your gonna need sss units or god gear or even both But my point being is they do not understand that I have 90% of 5* units in the game including mls And still when I took a break from summoning so I can save a bunch for the next collab this one I was saving for 4 months skipped all hero banners that were not limited And god rta threw me for a loop with jenua , laia , Elvira , even the buffed zahak that I didn’t know about because I haven’t played rta in months I think 2 seasons But I feel bad for new players for sure

New players now have it easier than new players did each previous year before it. They're given so much for free, we ran out of energy constantly and didn't even have a pity on banners.

I have Karina but no rocket punch, my most hated unit to face tbh, I always pre ban She isn't fair imo, too much dmg for the defense support she supplies She's good vs op units but great vs normal units

Thanks for the great video, I always look forward to these! Ended in champion. I do agree this meta is exhausting. I never felt so tired doing the champion climb and I’ve been champion since Conviction season. I hope they make some fresh new units and better balancing cause otherwise I’ll start ending in Masters and calling it a day. Which, if new players get keeping stomped by RTA veterans it doesn’t bode well for making the game inviting for the next generation…

E7 always had a problem with balancing. Even after the Baal-Ara nerf, beyond play styles like cleave being overwhelming, there was always a unit that shape the meta around itself, be it SSB, ARavi or Candy. What I’ve always dislike about their philosophy of release is that they give a broken unit followed by a counter that ends up being too much and it continues again and again. Yes, it is hard to mitigate power creep but SG has been speedrunning it more that anything. Nerfs will always be a necessity in this kind of game. You can only go so far by making the units strictly better instead of arranging their kit so they do good things in their own right without making other units obsolete. I played since day 1, turn 2 player, and stopped 1 year ago. It wasn’t fun to always have to rush for having THE counter, and getting to choose between more and more prebans that were overbearing (Straze, Peira, AOL, ALaika, Lua, etc). Today, I come back here and there but the incentive to enjoy pvp is gone. I wish the devs or their executives would change their approach. If one day a game that is half as polished as E7 but with good balancing came along, a lot will leave for good.

"Get paid" units are kinda like tier 0 metas in TCG games. Tier 0 means they're so strong they brute force every situation regardless of thought, and its the most toxic a TCG meta can be

I'm new to the game like my account is 21days old but I watched enough content on youtube to get an idea how the game works, RTA as a new player I accept the fact that I'll start at the bottom and climb my way up little by little until I can catch up to veteran players witch in this game is still somehow possibl compare to other games where it is literally impossible to catchup, the problem is aquiring units, I could get the satisfaction of grinding for gears knowing that any moment I could get a god tier gear any day of the week, but knowing that no matter what I do I would not have any access to those limited units or it will take me months of waiting to get those OP limited units to be able to compete properly is what any new players problem is, why not add a feature for new players to get limited units gets unlock once per account like story summon so we can catch up, and for ML summons sure we get 2 free units but as well as veteran players, just give us one extra ML unit to make us feel good playing this game and we might be more convince on sticking around rather than quitting after a month of us waisting our time grinding only to get destroyed in RTA.

@@im_Tsu I'm with you with that, and I agree that each collab units should have an alternate regular unit so even if we missed out on those collabs we still have an acces to the same exact unit and artifact, atleast they wouldnt have to be concern about the power level of collab units, I feel like they intended to make collab units to be underwhelming because, one people will still summon them no matter what and because if they make all collab units a must have units for RTA, like the problem with AEKarina it will be harder for them to attract new players, so them beeing niche that can be replaced by another regular unit in your team might be fine but your idea of duplicate just change the skin might be the best solution.

The problem is their refusal to balance the game. They have potentially the best competitive mobile game on the market, but they won't balance the game. And their new releases can barely be called power creep, it feels so much worse than that because the jump in strength is never minor, its always massive, and sets a new standard for how broken the next one has to be. They make heroes completely irrelevant, which is fine, but not in the numbers that they do. Combine that with the ridiculous RNG of percentages that dont match what actually happens, like 99% crit chance hitting that 1% way more than it statistically should, and its not fun. There's so many broken heroes now that things like 25% innate resist and 3% dual attack chance should not be in the game. Why should a dps hero with insane damage have a chance to randomly save their own life when they didnt build or draft for it? They used to nerf heroes until korean players complained about nerfs and demanded ML5 selector tickets as compensation (which never made any sense since you choose to pull heroes, and you use them for months to get rewards that you wouldnt have got without them). 5 years later, and its just depressing how desperately the game needs that balance that it once had.

3 Pre-bans makes the problem worse, if you can believe it. Do you want to fight Sea Phantom Politis but they also have Red Politis banned? Your options are non-existent. Anyone who wants 3 Pre-bans either 1. A cleaver 2. Doesn't understand the game at a high enough level.

I think it's time we get seasonal global bans. Have like 10-20 characters and/or artis just banned from RTA. Shakes up the meta and requires almost no effort by the devs. Maybe have 3 or 4 rotations per season or make the seasons shorter (probably won't happen because of the time it takes to make skins). Card games do this when power creep gets too insane and the meta gets stale, might be time for E7 to do it. That or start nerfing characters and don't back down to the whiners who want ml5 selectors. Although I understand the Asian player base tends to be more, term, "vocal" than Western players when it comes to negative feedback. Or... More frequent buffs or change battle frenzy. If they're afraid of really making things unbalanced then use the preseason as a beta test time, where character changes are applied in RTA with the communication to the players that not all the changes will be permanent and it's just for testing and feedback.
