Such a great little hull. I had a 1974 V163C which originally had a 70 hp Johnson on it which was a great motor, especially when it was reconditioned with an 80's prop rated block on it- perfect power for the hull. Later I put the 90 Yamaha on like yours. I was keen on an etec but the hull is narrow and tender and the Yamaha had the best power to weight of anything else I could find. Wonderful combo. We fished from a bar crossing ramp and that little hull handled all conditions and crossing without fault, they really punch well above their weight and ride nice and dry as well. Nice roomy cockpit too. Awesome rig.

Learn to tie an Alpine butterfly (off the hand) for your anchor line set up. You can thank me later.. Great little set up btw. Reminds me of a Caribbean I did up beautiful. Hit brown’s mountain and saw two of the biggest tiger sharks I’ve ever seen. Next weekend, seven kms off the heads the rotten stringer and transom ( hidden under the glass) imploded and she and us went into the drink in 30s. Nearly killed us all. Lol

Awesome build, really well thought out. For the anchor setup, try a bowline on a bight instead of a figure 8 - much easier to untie after it's been loaded by the swell!

Nice little boat, a 115 sazuki would be great fun on the back of it.

Was surprised with your top speed. I've got a Haines 460slr with a 90hp ocean pro. According to the boat speedo top speed is up around 75kph. Haven't checked with gps. The 460 has a flat plank along the bottom of the hull - maybe helps with top speed as it sits up on it. Is pretty skittish trimmed right up, need to trim it down before turning. Just thought you'd be interested in top speed comparison. Great vids. 👍

Thats a beautiful boat. I've been hoping to transition from a 14' aluminum tinner w/ a tiller to something a few feet larger with forward controls. Any ideas what the North American version of this? Hourston Glascraft?

Hey mate are you using the throttle lever to cold start the motor? There’s instructions in the yamaha manual which i found really handy! :)

Might get shit for this but idk who else to ask. Been thinking of piercing the old shnoz but am an avid freediver and surfer. How long realistically would I need to spend out of the water after and does it ever get in the way of clearing?

Super sick build man! Looking into doing something similar, have seen heaps of these around however some are labelled as 16r’s and some as v16r’s. Is there any difference?

3 grand to replace the head on an older motor?? Aren’t you better off buying a new motor altogether, maybe second hand with low hours?
@HarryLindley3 жыл бұрын
My mind went there too ay! But the more I thought about it the more I didn’t want to buy another 15 year old motor (like mine) for 3-4 grand and then the same thing happen a week later. Now I have a brand new engine (minus the lower leg). Would love a newish 4 banger one day when money allows
