That may not necessarily be a bad thing. If you decide not to exchange pieces when you are up material or don't take free material because you try to go for mate, you risk losing the advantage when that mate doesn't work

Put the knight to the right it would have been decked by the pawn and then one more set with his top rook to the right and he would have one and he couldn't have done anything to stop it

8:39 I really like the quiet Bc7! making room for Rg4 mate. To avoid mate, black rook has to move, but where? On the e-file it will be captured, and if Rg5 of h5, then Re7+ Re5 Bf5 (or Bc6) is checkmate.
