Epicenter will win the derby.... just take a long look at the Louisiana derby, he won pulling a bus ... if zandon & smile happy as made improvement then one can also assume so as Epicenter... he should be very fresh coming off the little respite, hence he be very hard to beat .

Epicenter is a fighter of a race horse and he is destined for greatness. His mind is conditioned to fight for the lead. That's the kind of horse that will make you some money. Don't forget that he's a three year; a very mature three year old. He's a work horse amongst many show ponies. He's been toying with the competition he's faced and he's fit as a fiddle and on the improve. However, there are a few young horses he hasn't contested that will be in the Derby. Some of these other horses may lack experience but they too have great potential and chance wear the roses. Out of curiosity, why isn't the weight of the horses included in the Racing Form? That's would be a good stat to have. I know some tracks used to post the weight of the horses.

Different track, different track conditions, and pace always matters …. But his 1 3/16 time beats all but three Preakness winners at the same distance since 2000.

Thanks for putting this together. I disagree with your statement that Epicenter is going to be "the odds on favorite". He may be the favorite, but no way will he be odds on. There may have been an odds on favorite in the Derby but I can't remember one. (Odds on to me means below even money.)

The way he explodes when he hits the final turn is impressive. He's winning the Derby today.

He’s look versatile and he’s had a race over the track. I wonder if he ran his derby in his final prep. I’m curious about his post position because if he doesn’t get a good pp he’ll have to Use himself up getting a decent position into that first turn then begin his stretch run down the backstretch which will exhaust him. If he gets a decent pp he should be right there. Whether he wins who knows but with a good post he should be right there at the end. They’re all so lightly raced at this point and some of them are probably still improving which makes handicapping this race so difficult for than it was a few decades ago. Don’t be surprised if a long shot gets up there. Twenty horse field….it should be interesting.
