i am a 53 year old adventure Father with two teenaged Adventure boys. My eyes were leaking😭 when the kids returned to the island . Also from where i am sitting the kids all have grown and matured. Caroline especially has blossomed into an articulate, well spoken and capable woman. Pete and Dan are going to thrive this winter and will ensure your safety and well being. Well done, Mom and Dad.

When I saw Landon greeting the young men and Caroline it brought back so many memories. We had a small standard poodle growing up. His name was Jacque Peabody! After my oldest sister married my two other sisters and I stayed with my grandparents. Jacque stayed with us. Mom and Dad took my oldest sister California to be with her husband, he was currently in the navy. When they returned Jacque 's greeting was much like Landon's. He couldn't decide whether to nip, lick, whimper, yip, Yelp, roll over,bark. It was quite comical. Brings tears to my eyes. What do you do for a living? This is just day two of watching your videos. My heart is full.

Whether it’s the Rocky Mountains of Alberta, the Great Plains of Saskatchewan and Manitoba, or the old growth forests with gorgeous fall colors and peaceful lakes of Ontario, the views are beautiful! Thank you all for letting me travel along with you through your videos. I wish my son's would travel with me but ever since I got sick they decided to go their on way even though my cancer is gone. I absolutely love how Lando shows his emotions! He missed the kids and absolutely adores them - he wears his heart on his sleeve (and in his hind legs as he tries to get up into your face). Dear hearts, I'm sooo happy to see you all together again. Peter and Carol, I can't thank you enough for taking me to the stunning places that you visited. Places that, I could have never be able to see otherwise. But through you and the kids, before they went on their own amazing journey, and of course, "our" bodyguard Lando, it was a dream come true. I felt like I was on the back seat with Lando, trying not to miss anything. The mountains, rivers and the mighty glacier, what a magnificent adventure!!! I know the kids have a lot of beautiful videos for us as well. I'm so glad everyone is safe and at home. I was so nice to see Lando so happy to see the kids as well. FWIW, we sold the travel trailer we used over 10 or 15 years to take our family to Yellowstone, Disney World, etc. We did so for the following reasons: 1) Equipment like that has a limited life; seals, tires, etc. break down over time. When most of that time is in storage, it seems a waste. 2) Equipment like that needs to be used - everything works better (batteries, plumbing, etc.) with regular use. 3) We had our adventures with it; we thought it was time for some other family to start their adventures. We've started a different approach in general. When something with practical value also has a lot of sentimental value, I take lots of pictures, maybe make a video or two, and then sell it on to someone else. I sold two family cars at a big discount to a guy at our plant who's a great guy but has very limited $$$ due to health issues in his family. He felt great and we felt great. But I like it even better when I can hand down equipment to family members - like giving my nephew my cheap 2nd hand kayak when their baby had a lot of medical bills and he felt that he couldn't afford to take up paddling even though he very much wanted to do so. Good luck with your decisions! I'm sure prayer and discernment will take to a good place.

I was in my 2nd yr of retirement recovering from a serious foot injury (from my dual sport bike - go boys :) when I found you guys. You had just started out posting your travels and I had never seen anyone use a Jeep in that fashion before. I've been very blessed to have take many adventures over the years on 2 wheels, so my hope is that one day my wife ,2 dogs and I will travel that way together in a Jeep inspired by your family. Hey Van Stralen family 🤙- I’ve loved watching the “empty nest” editions with Pete and Carol - as an empty nester myself it’s time of adjustment in many ways - watching our kids starting to do their thing. What I’ve marvelled in is observing my daughter who is at University 1st year living at University residences how much she’s developing in her new found independence. In the last few months she’s been spending more time coming home for short visits saying how much she is really enjoying hanging out with her parents. That Uni is hard work and hard play but there’s nothing more comforting than just being around us having long conversations about this next phase of our lives. Seeing Caroline, Pete and Dan back home after their overseas travels I recognise how they too over the months have grown as individuals. Wonderful seeing you all come together at that magical place - the cabin with winter coming - it was a heartwarming reunion. And man you guys were straight back into it building the shed. The tears just ran watching Lando - his love for each of his humoon brothers and sister is next level. There’s no better greeting than that. Can’t wait to see your trip to Norway et al (part of my bucket list and ancestry too) Super opportunities to learn so much. So keen to watch how the winter goes living off grid on an island- epic challenges! Anyways Kia Kaha (keep strong) lots of Aroha (love❤) from edge of the world New Zealand 🇳🇿

I grew up in the area where your cabin seems to be, in a small town called Waubaushene, and I have such incredible memories from that time. It is such a beautiful area, and how wonderful it would be to experience cabin life there once again!

Im in late 50s. Did clinical since age 21. At49..my body said "ill see ya sid..(lol)". I cried watching this episode. Those islandic sweaters started it (it still would fit a one month.old) hearing the kids...actually your kids have experienced life altering moments. Thats a GREAT thing. We just received our Epic Family LD of the Heady head lights, they are great and the lighting features/options really give you lots of lighting choices…. I imagine you have to be prepared for the transition from open water to solid ice, unless you have a hovercraft or helicopter you have to make do with what you have. Having watched your videos for a while I suspect you are very well prepared.

We live by a gravel pit and it always scares me when I meet a truck coming from there. They make the Winnebago campers here in Iowa, my husband worked there till he got cancer. Then he couldn't go back because all the treatments and surgeries, plus he has to eat pureed food now. What beautiful country and all the colors. Glad you all are back together again 🥰. It would be nice to see some of the adventures your children had.

Hey, you drove through Chilliwack didn’t even stop to say hello! Lol. We really enjoyed you Northern adv videos. Our kids have lived a few places up there and we can’t seem to get them back to the lower mainland….u came through at the right time, smoke is gone finally

Thank you again for a wonderful Sunday treat, which never fails to cheer my heart. It was so wonderful to see you all together at the cabin again! I love adventure and have spent a lot of my life hiking, climbing, cycling and sailing. But home is the best, and I can’t imagine a better one than your cozy cabin on the island with family. I love your adventures, but my favorite episodes are the ones featuring your cabin life. Blessings on you all as you prepare for the winter there. And thank you for giving me such a treat each week!
