This episode is a basic introduction as to why I have been prepping for over 15 years. Many of you will be thinking what exactly is prepping and why do some people do it? Perhaps you've been thinking of beginning to prep yourself but are unsure as to how to begin. I will be showing you a quick overview of my food storage container and how and why I store certain foods.
Following this episode I will be taking you through the A-Z of prepping; certain kits, medical, bugging in to bugging out and what to do in an emergency situation.
Throughout the episodes I will also be reviewing various items and equipment that I use from camping gear to home security equipment.
I hope you enjoy my videos and remember to subscribe!

Hey dude, John here in Bulgaria. Great sound advice. People have different reasons at to why they prep. I prep because a few years ago, i had no work and no money, I lived of bread for 4 weeks and i vowed to always have food in the pantry, so now when i have a few extra Lev, i buy food.

Hi John, yes you're absolutely right, there are so many reasons to prep and anything could happen to any one of us at anytime! When I have any spare cash I tend to spend it on more equipment etc. Glad you made it through and hope you're doing ok now. Thanks for watching. More vids coming soon.👍

Spot on mate, I just lost my job in one of many pubs which was forced to close due to spiralling energy costs. I'm not broke (yet) and not in the shit (yet) but having a 2 month stock of food gives me a hell of a lot more peace of mind.

May I suggest having a pressure canner and or water bath canner. I buy tons of meat when it’s on sale and I can it up. I can beef, pork, chicken, sausage, bacon, ribs, beans, soups, meals, etc… I also make tons of ghee. Plus, if you keep tons of stuff it the freezer and the grid goes down, all you need is a canner, jars, and propane cooker. You won’t lose that stuff.

I’m in the UK and I’ve been prepping for 4 years. I’ve been unemployed and to me it makes sense to have extra of everything in case of unemployment, you can’t get out for some reason and many other reasons. When panic buying happened, I didn’t have to worry about anything as I was well stocked. You only have to buy a few items extra of what you normally buy and it soon builds up. I started with tins and packets. I’d buy an extra large toilet roll pack once a month. Toiletries, batteries, candles, matches, washing powder/liquid and cleaning products. I’ve got a couple of 10kg buckets for rice and pasta. Only buy what you eat. Don’t forget seasonings, stock cubes and beans pulses for thickening up soups and high in protein and fat. Honey is good and keeps forever. Good for sweetening things and good the immune system. I’ve also stocked up on sweets, chocolates and crisp. I have basic medical supplies in the first aid box which is updated regularly - plasters, gauze, antiseptic, antihistamines, bandages and saline spray. I also make sure I have vinegar and baking powder as these can be used in the house for different things in the house and are cheap. Dried fruit keeps a long time as well as tin. Keep your freezers well stocked too. Don’t forget cereals and porridge. If you have pets, don’t forget to stock up on food for them too.

I was in the vunerable group during the "medical emergency", didn't go out at all for months. Had my food preps, used them, found a few holes in things that got used more than others. Just used the lock down as a real world exercise. All "holes" now sorted. Been prepping for over 20 years, always something new to learn, new ways, new skills. Have subbed.

Greetings from Cheshire. I’m very pleased to see another UK prepper on YT. Great content, keep posting, you have a new subscriber. 👍💯 I have been on the “prepper” mindset since 2016 due to fear of job loss in my household, so far we have been ok, but things can change overnight. Having a buffer while you gather you thoughts and get a plan in action is great for our peace of mind. Have a great weekend, peace and love to all 🙂❤

You could move your tea bags into glass jars with a screw-top lid. That would keep them sealed up tight and you could buy in bulk and swipe from storage to move some into your regular kitchen. Same for pancake mix, sugars, etc. Also, for a true emergency, you might want to stock up on charcoal briquettes or even better, an eco stove that burns several types of fuel. I have one called an Eco-Zoom, I believe, that also burns small twigs if you don't have the fuel pellets. Just an idea. Oh! water filters too!

The thing is about dates on foodstuffs, is that the dates are mostly "best before" dates, which aren't the same as "use by" dates. I have seen too many people throw away perfectly good food just because it had passed its best before date, while it was still edible!

@@van-gabondramblinrose6398 They still recommend using (metal cans of) tomato products and other acidic foods like pineapple within one year after expiration, but I called a cannery regarding the expiration date on their canned peas, and they told me they are good "for a hundred years". I'm in Ireland and prepping is not common. I always had extra food anyway but with the viruus on its way I really stocked up and when everyone was going nuts looking for toilet roll, calpol etc I was at home with my children. School was closed and we never went anywhere for 2 months. My husband would pick up bread, fruit and veg on way home from work but since then I've become more focused, having lots of multiples, vacuum sealing etc. I'm getting more prepared with whatever will happen. Bought a kelly kettle as a back up and want to invest in solar generator very soon!! Putting in a big garden this year and getting a big tunnel installed at the end of the month 😊

Great vid mate, like & subscribed. Re. your point about not wasting money, you could say that with soaring food prices, you save money as everything you eat from those ''old'' preps cost less when you bought it...if you replace it now and don't eat it for 2 years again the same is the case, it's most likely going to be more expensive in 2 years.

Hi Adam, I have talked to other people who think I am crazy when I tell them about being prepared, so now I don`t even mention it ! I would not say I am a big prepper, but I like to think I have got what I think are my main items and preps, that put my mind at rest. But there`s always room for more! I live in North Wales, and in the past couple of years we have had some major storms! There were areas across Wales that had no power, and for some that lasted nearly 2 weeks! Also in the recent cold spell we had the other week, there was another area in Wales that had no running water due to the mains pipe freezing and Bursting! On top of that I recently had a 12 hour power cut! So if there is any cause or reasoning for people to make some basic preps, there`s three reasons! It doesn't take a major event to catch us out, just a bit of snow and there`s no loo roll to be had! lol. Just subscribed mate. Keep up the good work. Shaun.

Hi Shaun, I know what you mean when it comes to people thinking your crazy! I had the same reaction from people for years until more recently, I think it is at a turning point now where most people agree that prepping a must and will all soon start jumping on the band waggon. Yes you are completely right when it comes to being prepared etc. All it takes is a few little things to go wrong and then it can snowball into one big problem. Thanks for watching and I hope you have managed to sort your burst water pipe out. I'm back home for a bit now so I can get on with some more videos. Take care👍

Thank you for the upload I really enjoyed it! Hello mate I was just thinking. If you had a bit of down pipe you could cut an opening at the bottom for grabbing tins out (like vending machine). When you pull a tin out the next one hits the bottom. Replenish at the top of the pipe. A stack of whatever tinned food you want would go right to the opening of the pipe at the top. You place the freshest tins you’ve just bought at the top and the older tins fall to the bottom as you get a tin out to eat. It will replenish itself.

Stockpiles of food like this don't happen over night. If you can set aside a small amount of money each week towards prepping it's always better than nothing. Just buying a few extra tinned items when you do your grocery shopping will soon add up. Lack of space is always a problem. Try to store food and other essential items wherever you can find space. Keeping food under your bed might seam crazy, but it's always an option. If you have an extra few days of food and water stored in your home you'll already be more prepared that most people.
