I sang this song in a solo in a concert when I was about 14 or so. Such a beautiful, dark and deep piece of music. Rest In Peace, Anne Boleyn!

@Holly Courtney Late to comment, but just seeing this for the first time. What a doleful song to preform for a concert, especially to be sung by a child! Of course a young, clear voice would be perfect for it, but heavy for a modern teen. At that age we think we're immortal. Thanks for that story.

What a fabulous addition to our understanding of the execution of Anne Boleyn. We see Henry's cruelty through 16th century eyes, The Talking Tudors podcast comes up trumps yet again with the depth, range and scope of its intellectual enquiries. Such a fitting tribute to Anne on the anniversary of her brutal murder, Fascinating, thank you so much. . .

Really enjoyed this, thank you Natalie! JoAnn really gives a bang for your buck sparing no minute without tons of details NOT laid out in general history sources. Folks just need to really listen to knowledgeable folks such as JoAnn. Happy Anne Boleyn Day, which is not really happy per se, but we remember her fondly and I'm sure she knows. It's called vindication. ;)

I loved this in-depth discussion of a source I've never heard of. So many "Tudor" podcasts are just regurgitations of the same stuff - even Dr. Starkey does this without quoting who the sources are.

I would love to buy the book but the price, even used hovers around $50. I've looked everywhere and I understand the research I've been a military historian for over 50 years. The subject is fascinating.

Was anyone able to find that English translation she recommended on Google books? I saw the title but couldn't locate any copy to be read/downloaded. Fantastic discussion-thank you!

Anne Boleyn originally resisted Henry. Something changed. She thought it was her destiny to give birth to Tudor prince. It is in the book of hours. I believe she went to astrologer and promised Henry that son. I think she saw herself as a reformer. In the end Henry thought she betrayed him.
