Saw him in Buffalo New York in 1973 opening for the Dead...I read he was close to the GD and they were glad to have him open for them on the 1973 summer-fall tour.I remember She's About A Mover when it was popular and Mendocino as well.They were excellent and I also remember him because it was my first Dead show that I went to.

Thanks for this. I remember "She's About A Mover" but I can't place anything else by Doug. Time for a deep dive! Texas Blues is one of my favorite genres. I've lived in Texas just shy of 20 years now and I thought I knew Texas music pretty well but this one escaped me!

Thanks . just one observation the single package of 'she's about a mover' shows the bandmembers....lI recognize Doug Clifford as first on the left. (i guess he was a short time member of SDQ before he joined CCR?). Some time ago I watched SDQ live performances on You Tube and remember seeing/recognizing Doug Clifford. DC has also a very recognizable drumming personality/sound.

Now that's an interesting observation. Does kinda look like him but I have never heard he was in SDQ. But I just checked Wikipedia searching for him and it says that he played on 3 SDQ albums, 1974 Groover;'s Paradise as a producer and drummer, 19083 Midnight Sun on Drums and 1994 Day Dreaming at Midnight Producer and Drums. I did not know this connection, thanks for pointing it out. My guess is the photo is taken much later than the original She's About A Mover came out.
