Wow. That's opening segment foreshadowing the harshness and brutality of the Great Basin was brilliant. Especially that shot of the sunrise over the barbed wire, that was like a little story in itself. I sense Aaron's expertise in there.

Dixie over the last 8 months we my wife and have been watching your channel. You are an inspiration. In early spring we started to get together our gear. In May we went to Moutain Crossing on the AT and got fitted for our Backpacks. If anyone out is reading this we live in North West Florida there are not many backpacking outfitters around us. We do travel to Noth Georgia frequently. Mountain Crossing is a great place to start and there prices are very very reasonable. Especially when you figured the wealth of knowledge and experience the staff has. We even went back in late June to buy our trail runners. Ask for Bill he is wonderful. The first week in September we are heading out to North Georgia to tackle our first Backpacking adventure. We have you to thank. Your channel is entertaining informed and inspiring. Thank you thank you. We will post to you how everything goes. Steve and Kristin

I agree with the folk that say "you are, at this point, a professional" I hope this will lead into a career for you, you found your niche and I hope the outdoor community sees what we all see in you. I do hope you get sponsored by many, or all. Even if it's considered to be a sell out by some, it will provide for you and give us all a glimpse of the crazy and the wild and the untouched, from your perspective, which has been amazing thus far... you just keep on giving us this organic, real content, and we will keep on supporting you. much love D.

Awesome video Dixie,,you sure made a long stretch of flatland look interesting..There is nothing pathetic about you, your strengths and determination are amazing..I also get lost in thought of the early pioneers that came through without having a clue what was ahead..can just imagine topping a mountain just to see another mountain or two in the distance, and as said with oxen, mules, horses, wagons and generally children of all ages,,the struggle had to be immense...good to see you with others on trail.....Stay Safe and God Bless....

Hi Dixie! I’ve loved watching your adventures on the PCT and also through my home of NM. I just wanted to drop by to say that while the pioneers were charting new territory for settler colonists, this land was NOT unoccupied. All the lands you have hiked through were originally inhabited by thriving Indigenous communities that were decimated by hundreds of years of genocide because of “manifest destiny’. Please learn more about the lands you are recreating on. All of the animals, plants, and features you see helped these people survive and I am sure there are so many stories tied to those landscapes. This video was shot on the homelands of the Apsaalooke (Crow), Cheyenne, Oceti Sakowin (Sioux), and the Eastern Shoshone. (From the Native Lands App).

As a team, You and Aaron are a documentary force to be reckoned with. I don't know how, but these videos get better and better and better and better... That's not to say that your friend, way back in the AT days didn't do a fantastic job, because she did. Those videos are AWESOME. But just like your experience/quality as a hiker has increased, so have the videos that capture it all. OUTSTANDING!! "Butt water through my sawyer." You're too much!! Oh, and that shot of the barbed wire, coupled with the music was mesmerizing!!

Never realized there was so much desert on the CDT. Maybe more than the PCT. At least the Appalachian Trail doesn't have that. Far easier to watch than actually walk it and apparently the toes are better.. It takes guts to drink from those cloudy waterholes, even with water filters. Dixie delivered another good show despite the plain countryside.

"The trail provides" just like it did in the earlier times when the pioneers were the first to trek it. Parents often say they wanted their kids to have it better than they did. It is such an honor, often bestowed posthumously, for the "kids" to reflect upon their parents' hardships and recognize how blessed those "kids" truly are. I suppose you might call it "paying it backward."

My new mantra watching these hiking videos: Less talking, more walking. But you do catch some of the best wildlife: a tiny little hornitoad and a weasel, I'm impressed. Do you know that the Wyoming pronghorns migrate further than any other land mammal in the US?
