The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo started in 1979. It was ceremoniously opened by Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. This event is an indoor spectacle usually held in Halifax's Metro Centre. It featured music, dancing, acrobatic, and comedic performances.
The Tattoo parade commenced on the morning of July 1st (Canada Day). It took place throught the streets of Downtown Halifax. This year marked the 100th Anniversary of the Royal Canadian Navy.
The word, "Tattoo" derived from a Dutch tradition of drummers marching through the streets, summoning the British soldiers to return to their quarters from the taverns and inns (to "turn off the taps" or "doe den tap toe").

I love how you can tell from the "replay frequency" thing KZfaq has now that Canadians like the German segment.. probably the drums, and how unusual it is for us to see Germany anywhere over here! But we absolutely LOVE the first bit of our traditional pipes and drums and would never, ever miss it.

Hi Hannah. This video was recorded about 2 years ago. Children's choir? Well, due to the video footage with the Children's choir, I wasn't able to include it in this video due to editing reasons. I really had to limit the video to 10 minutes so that it's not drawn out too much. My apologies to you for not including the footage of the Children's choir in this video. Thank you very much for your comment.

This is what passes for a "missile parade" in Canada. If you look really close, you might just see one!

In response to a question below from Kyle Goodman: The march heard from 4:19 - 4:49 is "Arnhem", by A.E. Kelly. Thanks for posting this parade. It included some fine bands.
