legendary creature that got me into edh? love that question, for me it was isamaru hound of konda. a strange pick for sure but I was a kid back in the day and it was kinda fun having a bunch of cheap creatures and a bunch of pump spells to aggro my opponents out (I should build that again)

The Mystic Forge Morph/Disguise trick works because the Oracle text doesn't say Card, it says Spell. "You may cast artifact spells and colorless spells from the top of your library."

As a HUGE simp for the dice cards, I want to massively support Joey saying more than half the time Lae'zel's acrobatics gives the best result. Tons of the Dice cards have a 10-19/20 roll range which means more often than not you're getting the best possible result.

These were fantastic questions. The question about first deck compared to last is a big thinker. My first deck I built was Arixmethes (off the Teferi big blue precon). I love big stuff and cheap interaction. Hard to decide what my most current deck is tho. My last paper build is Lier, which funnily enough stemmed off the cards I wanted to play in Arix. The last deck I built for myself online I think was Hazezon? While Arix is semi landfall, I didn't have a dedicated landfall deck that interested me until Haz. The last deck I built tho was for a friend who was getting into magic, Mr Orfeo. BIG creatures with sneak attack and reanimation, big jund things. Looking on it, all my decks are things I want to do in Arixmethes but decided to build a whole deck around instead 😂

One of my friends has 4 or 5 different modular decks and they all play a little differently, but they're super fun to watch.

My first commander that really spoke to me, since I really did not like the Riku deck I ended up getting out of the first commander precons, was Sedris, the Traitor King. The art, the colours, the ability. Green was just not a thing for me back then, I always leaned more towards mostly blue, then red (not Izzet) and ended up in Grixis for commander. It definitely had more tutors och looting since I needed to find the pieces and get the creatures in my graveyard. Pretty sure I actually ran some of the weaker reanimation spells and focused more om getting Sedris out. Because I wanted to do unearth the creatures. A small goal of mine is still to get a Sedris in foil from Alara.

The perfect response would be to saying "thank you for not being a sourkraught and supporting the channel, we'll keep your support tucked in our hearts."

I put a few cards with descend into my Prosper deck because I thought descend would see tokens. I didn't catch/know that it said permanent cards and (treasure) tokens aren't cards. I was bummed when someone pointed that out (but glad to be corrected). Brass's Tunnel Grinder still shows up in 17 of Prosper decks, and I suspect most of those people are making the same mistake I was.

I think it's interesting how the site changed the format itself. On the one hand you can obviously say that it made deckbuilding much, much easier, but on the other hand there are less "ohhh" moments when you find some interesting card that fit your deck and decks are more similar in many cases. Staples existed before, but I think they were much less common, there were more experimentation and trying out things and now its: "Don't play 3 mana counterspells they are all trash" hahah

I subscribe to the recent claim by Richard from Mtggoldfish that Basic Land art should be singleton in Commander decks. That just lets you play more cool art! That said, my favorite Basic Land art is Urza's Saga #336 and #338, because those are both Islands, but the art appears to be the same island from different angles. I have a pair of those in every blue deck.

I don't think that you play mystic forge in Kadena only because there is so much card advantage baked into her while at 4 mana there are also a lot of other and frankly better value pieces for that part of your curve. The 4 drop part of your curve is not only competing with your commander, but also ugin's mastery, beast whisperer, tidal baracuda, vedalken orrery, wilderness reclamation, teferi's endless insight, plus potentially roaming throne/clone effects and several cards that let you cast creatures from the top. It's interesting tech, but Kadena is flush with great options at 4 CMC.

What do people mean by mismatched basic lands?? Does every single basic land have the same art? I always very intentionally play "singleton"-arts, i hate having multiple of the same basic land on the field.

If shrine isn't a creature type what is go shintia if not it's being both I'm not aware of any creatures without a subtype tied to them? Along with the tokens it makes. Not trying to be sarcastic genuine question.

Why not template it as "Legendary Creature Enchantment - Shrine" then at least you wouldnt have to actively disconnect the two. I am not even playing that commander but it still triggers me to hear that nonbo. I hate that sometimes Magic is the opposite of intuitive...

Congrats on 300 episodes! I have a silly question unrelated to the video snd it's something that I could not stop thinking about. If white had a 1 mana instant card that had the text "Sacrifice a creature: Place a basic land into your battlefield tapped" that would be an instant White staple, right? So then why is Path to Exike rated lower than Swords to Plowshares when the worst case scenario Path is Swords and best case it's a crazy good White ramp spell

So my main takeaway from this episode is that for some reason Joey wants to ban waffles. /s Congrats on 300🎉🎉

This would be some work, but could EDHrec calculate if a deck has a % of cards equivalent to an existing precon (only check based on commander if a precon commander exists), and then disclude information if it's greater than a % (say 10%?) or at least put some info on that deck about that or maybe even disclude it in searches? This would cut down on precon bloat.
