Hi Nancy! I too collect the plastic bags in varying sizes. When I get more than I can use, I take them to my local quilt shop. They are always glad to accept them, and I know they use them. I used to work there part time after I retired from teaching. You will love retirement!!

It's good to see you! As a teacher myself, I understand the "when I get home, I'm home". I'm happy to hear that it looks like you are going to be able to finish out the school year. It's so hard on students to lose a teacher midyear, so hang in there! I'm also looking forward to retirement and being home more to work on my many projects with my cat as my stitching buddy. 😁 I'll look forward to seeing you whenever you get a chance. Throughly understand feeling anxious, and stressed about those deadlines and pressures to get stitching done. For me it comes and goes, but for the most part I stitch what I want, when I want. I’ve always known that if I felt pressured, it becomes a chore not a relaxation tool. In fact that why I have so many quilt tops in progress. Too many imaginary pressures, sucked the joy right out. It’s been a couple years since I actively worked on a quilt. I stitch most days at least a couple hours. Our lady of the flag is looking great. Take care, and give yourself the grace to say, not today. ❤

It is great to see you back! I too save the bags from my thread clubs! I totally understand where you are with your stitching. I’m thinking for next year I’m going to pick 12 wips (1per month) and 6 of my patterns that are kitted but not started to work on. I have 3 quilts in various stages and 2 more ready to be started. I have enough projects that I will need to live until I’m 120 😁 Retire! I retired in June from 34 years in education (middle school science teacher and administrator) it was the best decision.

I love your videos! We are very similar! I abandoned my WIPGO, too. It was stressful! So, love your philosophy of Stitch what you want! I also add to my stash, especially fabric, like I'm going to live forever! The spool fabric you bought is lovely. I can't wait to purchase some bags and portfolios!

I get it….there are not enough hours in a day. I don’t do wip go or the wheel because it might tell me to work on something I don’t want to and then stitching is a chore not a release. I need to start Facebook so I can join your zoom group. Last year I shopped with the idea of getting things into my house so I have supplies at the ready when retired. I now could open a small quilt store and still love to shop. I need to figure this out so I manage my budget better as I work towards zero teaching. Take care…my friend is having moderate success with ozempic but it is taking more time than she hoped. I am so glad you like the ornament.

I hear ya about the stress of flosstube. I love filming , but I notes and uploading stresses me out. I love the variegated thread you used on your project bag. Very very pretty . 💕🧵

I think it is a great idea to stitch what you want when you want. It is beneficial when you talk about your struggles as some of us can relate. Sending encouragement and positive thoughts your way. You have quite a few big and complicated stitches. I can see how it is hard to see as much progress as you would like. Like you said, slow and steady....The Lady of the Flag is gorgeous!!! Cat

I’m glad you are doing okay. Thanks for letting us know. Like you, I struggle with having a stitching plan. It stresses me out and this isn’t what stitching is about. So I have just tried to go with what I feel like doing. Every time i plan on stitching certain pieces for a bit of time it makes me crazy. I would rather enjoy what I’m doing than trying to see how many things I can stitch in a month. As you say, life happens and it doesn’t always go the way we want so why get anxious about it. That’s my philosophy for now. Have a great month!

I live on the east coast very close to the beach. I never go. But I always wanted to live on the ocean to be able to have that beautiful scenery every day.

I tried to quilt, knit, rug hook, and cross stitch. I found out that nothing done. So now I do cross stitch. And I knit a little bit. Gave up all other hobbies for now.

Saw the Quaker Bird chart and had to have it!! Got pattern and floss...started it today. Thanks for the enabling 😂.

So good to see your face again! I do believe we may be soul sisters...crowds? Nope...even if it's a crowd of Everyone I love! Save the plastic bags? Yep....even though I have no use for them...I store my patterns in sleeve protectors and leaving in the plastic just takes up more room. Stitch what I want when I want? Yep! I love that others get a sense of accomplishment using things like WIPGO and acrostics and such....and I sometimes get envious that I'm not a part of the group. But my day is soooo planned out and cross stitch is my release. I don't need it planned out too. Hope to see you again soon

I save the bags from the C&C club and the FQS floss clubs and recycle the cards too! 😂 I don’t use floss drops so I use those bags as floss storage inside my projects bags. I also much prefer the all fabric bags over the vinyl fronts. I don’t like the feel of the vinyl because I’m weird LOL.

I can't even imagine being a teacher, doing floss tube, AND trying to do your own projects. You must not sleep much. Lol

I like dmc the best too. I bought some hand dyed floss. I'm not a fan

I can honestly say that other than no papers to grade, the BEST thing about being a retired teacher is your ability to go somewhere when the kids are in school! Like the beach in October or in April (I live in NC and these are 2 of the best months at the beach!) Hope your knees feel better. Keep stitching what you want and what makes you happy. The Stitchin' Mommy's temp pattern for 2024 is turtles - and it is wonderful!

Your progress on Lady of the Flag is stunning! Getting some red in there really made it pop. I hear you on obligation stitching making it stressful. We can't have that in our hobby. Stitch what makes you happy. I like the cat chart and my husband is a cancer.
