Your thinking even proves what Jalisco was saying .Your blaming a complexion as if Ls isn't black. That shit stems from a white man putting a "darker" skinned person in the field and the "lighter" skinned in the house and "Black " ppl have adopted that disgusting mentality(both light and dark).Cut it tf out

Chef Tasha it’s painful for me to watch cos I have and still do go through discrimination due to my color / skin tone and my demeanor. As a teenager it was worse. When I was 17, I recall a girl who sat next to me( a black girl of darker complexion) confide in me saying that’s she thought I was stuck up when she first saw me. Then I remembered girls laughing when I went up to the front of the class to introduce myself cos they were all talking about me. As an adult people would say my husband is biased cos he chose me over another girl a tad darker than me. Omggggg! People are crazy and this colorist thing must stop. I am black, my shade doesn’t make me feel better and never had. Not cos you carry yourself with respect and poise you think you’re better than others. That’s trash.

@@Crazylegs1234567 ...I should’ve provided more information in my original comment. I have always been considered VERY attractive and receive the same privilege in spite of my skin color. I can truly relate to this violent hate. I remember a time in the 90s when my best friend and I were innocently attacked by an unfamiliar woman(accompanied by her friends) jabbing her umbrella at us trying to stab us with the pointy medal end screaming, "I hate those pretty light-skinned B****es!!" It was like a horror movie. During this era, We were occasionally attacked by other Blacks for being light-skinned or Whites for being Black. Sheeeesh! I am glad to witness the issues of colorism are evolving into self-love.

Unfortunate. Self hate/jealousy caused attack on Gia. Vestiges of slavery( e.g. colorism) still haunt us as a people. Its mean to hate others b/c of how they look. When will we get over this light skinned -darned skin thing? Gia upgraded Envy and is beautiful..not b/c of her complexion but character. Now I didn't get slashed in the face but I did get beat up everyday for being lighter skinned. I didn't fit in anywhere . I still haven't found myself and I'm 38 with 2 bi racial kids one with blue eyes and I don't know what to tell them because I don't know how to love myself even. I have really low self esteem. Gia is what I would like to be like because shes so confident and comfortable in her skin. I really look up to her.

I grew up picked on for my dark skin... and in reality it never really went away as an adult ... absolute hate turned into a word disguised as “preference” for most people. Yet an still I never though of hurting or harming someone because of their skin color... or their physical features. It is a hard pill to swallow to be seen as the lesser of the two but... I surround myself with people who love me.... and I work on loving myself.

I was picked on too for my dark complexion. I've been told that I have a nice attitude for a dark skinned girl... I was crazy enough to look in the mirror and tell myself how beautiful I was and that they just couldn't see it... but everyone doesn't take that approach, instead they become resentful and angry... hurt people, hurt people. Stop it with the stereotypes. Not all dark skinned women have bad attitudes and not all light skinned women are conceited. If we train our children at a very young age this kinda stuff can be prevented.

From her growing up in a rough lifestyle in her younger day and to change all of that by her way of thinking . She got everything a real woman can ask for . She got a good husband, both making money 💰 5 kids A woman that’s crazy about her husband will have ALL of his babies 👶🏼 And they ALL living that LUXURY LIFESTYLE!!!! And she looks damn happy too ! Women go through a lot . If you wanna be happy, you can be happy . It’s really all about the life we choose . Good for you Gia..👍🏽👍🏽 Someday , mine will come soon😉

Natasha N especially since we are all mixed. We are not from Africa. We were born Brown skinned Americans all with some degree of European due to slavery. So colorism is BS. We are all mixed and come in different shades. Why would anyone care if someone is slightly more European. It's just stupid all around.

I Can relate with her. Growing up I had bullying from Black girls from as young as 5/6 years old because my hair was long. Being half Jamaican Indian i was always called coolie gal from my family and Jamaican community . By the age of 13/14 years old I had black girls up in my face threatening me but thank god nothing as bad as what you or other girls have gone through happened to me. I have had a black couple literally walk pass me and just called me ugly for no reason, didn’t know them from Adam. My complexion is no way light skinned in fact I’m a cinnamon/coffee complexion with fine features. As you get older you realised it’s called colorisim this exist within the Caribbean culture, black diaspora ie UK 🇬🇧 USA 🇺🇸 Latin America and African cultures and Asian cultures. Crazy how I have had racism from both whites in my earlier years yet experienced more hatred from my own race of people. It’s funny you never hear white people using different shades of white skin tones to classify one another even though their skin tones are very different too in shades. So why the hell do our race do it? You cannot measure the essence or character of a person by their skin tones. Stomp out this nonsense from your mindset it is debilitating and backwards thinking.

Sad to say I'd been hurt the most coming up by my own people. I tried like hell as an adolescent not to respond to fights because most girls only wanted to fight because they were jealous of something I could not control nor be ashamed of. The hate is deeply engraved for us to take down and dislike eachother for reasons that did not exist before slavery, jim crow etc... us sisters should stick together but the resistence of sisterhood is still a problem. Thankfully I learned myself and my boundaries and those people are far and removed from my life. I have a big heart. I and many others think of myself to be an artist and I have always been able to share that with others. I'm humble and I always believe everyone gets their own time to shine so when they're shining I don't feel some type of way. So jealousy and gossip are not apart of me but at one part of my life those two things once had me in the darkest place I had ever been because after being done dirty I broke down, trusted no one (which actually hurt) and isolated myself because when it's like that you think everyone is the same so why bother. Thankfully I evolved because I realized that in all of that I was just giving the power to them because even though they were removed from my life that's like carrying the weight of what they hated about themselves with me everyday and then I'd be no better. Jealousy and gossip have never been a part of me. Peace, love and light.

It makes my heart hurt. Kids don't come up with this shit on their own. I remember my mom giving me warnings saying that because I was a "pretty girl" whenever I had a fight someone would try to cut my face up. I didn't think I was remotely attractive until early adulthood so I just didn't get it. Also figured everyones mom thinks they're pretty so nothing special there. It makes me wonder wtf other little girls are being told, or worse, witnessing that makes them so hateful and violent. Thankfully Gia has had a good upbringing or some support system because she could have taught her daughter to fear, hate, or expect the worse from dark skin girls based on a pretty traumatic experience.

Love XOXO I think it's wrong to be called a bitch but stop pretending like black men don't put light skin black women on a pedestal. Many say they only marry or have children with a light skin or mix woman when they are wealthy. That means being light skin gives them better economical chances.

So, these girls were jealous because she is mixed! WTH!!! It comes back to upbringing for me. These girls' parents need to let them know that just because somebody is light-skinned doesn't mean they think they are prettier or smarter, it doesn't mean they're bitchy or stuck-up. It means they are light and you're not. I feel so bad for all parties involved.

Princess BC Well said...I agree. It goes back to self-esteem and maybe some of those girls grew up in abusive homes. Not an excuse, but sometimes that is where it starts. What’s funny is that the girl who cut her up was also attractive back then, but maybe didn’t feel good about herself so she hurt Gia. It’s sad.

@Psychology major I can see that as a possibility but that's still awful. So, a light-skinned girl can't be confident or she is a problem. Regardless of the reason, I'd be pissed at my child for doing something like this to anyone, especially behind some jealous mess.

@@catsrus-es9eu You do have the right to think what you want. You do not have the right to attack someone because you think they are prettier, smarter, faster, whatever though.
