I agree with all of these appreciations (mine is a '97), and would add the most impressive quality of the RC36 engine: it is undoubtedly THE most dependable high-revving (11,500 RPM) internal combustion engine ever made by mankind .... countless documented examples with way over 100,000 miles, many with over 300,000 miles (and I'm inclined to believe Feo Diente's comment below about the 477,000 mile example) all without engine overhauls. Only cars and Goldwings with redlines well under 8,000 RPM can accomplish mileage like that without wearing out. Gear-driven cams, brilliantly-designed oil delivery, V4 deliciousness, perfect 180 degree crank balance, and Honda during the pinnacle of their '90s over-engineered build quality .... certainly the best all-around/sport-tourer of all time. Comments welcome.

I can't say much about another commenter's query, but I do know of one UK despatch rider (courier) who had a 1990 FL who told his story to Bike (UK) magazine. The first engine lasted 416,000 miles - its replacement lasted 442,000 miles. Neither of them had the crankcases apart.

My cherry stock ‘94 VFR750 with only 7k miles was stolen out of my garage in 2002. Then it was crashed and totaled by the thief while running from the cops. It still breaks my heart thinking of that bike. I loved it like no other 😢❤ … The Best Bike Ever

About the mirrors, the structure is bending inside, so they dont crack but You

Shinko bought Yokohama tires and are actually very solid! They use Yokohama machines and methods. Great value tire that last longer than most.

The VFR line is like Honda's over-engineered bike. Great bikes, only problem is......... they are all HEAVY as hell!

True, yet this does not limit their ability to properly enjoy riding. And, I had no issues riding it in windy days, so more stability I presume? :)

And if u lean them they take up the tarmac with the front pegs and you almost lose your foot too!!!

Mine fell over in a storm 2 months ago! I took the centre stand off as i fitted a newer collector box ! Old one rotted! Anyway i left only the side stand on but as i was still awaiting a newer exhaust system the bike was leaning on an axle stand by the swing arm..well it blew over lol! Right over! On my own..i jacked up the back end and got two moto x tyres and put them under the mid frame ,i then began tp bounce the bike up and down on the tyres at the back end i pressed down and it brought up the centre of the bike so i could lean right into the bike with one knee and pull the bike back up,it was a PIG OF A BIKE TO GET ON ITS STAND AGAIN!!! 🤪🤪🤪🤪

I often press horn instead of turn leaver on my vfr750😅 But all in all this bike is amazing🥰

I was doing it on 5th gen vfr 800. Felt so embarrassed honking at people instead of indicating a turn 🤣😅🤭

Hey Red, just referring back to the Coffman on 2014 VFR. Did you have any rattle issue resulting from not being anchored to rear right footrest?? Any extra Mount work you would’ve recommended??

I'm fairly impressed how well Coffman is attached to the catalytic converter! I honestly thought that it will shoot right out when I rev the bike. But it did not! It does not rattle. After all those years this bolt-on is still there.

Put a shinko rear tire on my 94 vfr, it's holding up great I plan on using that brand from here on out. Great bike, not super quick but sounds great. Still quick enough for me

thanks for your video, nice and quitely presented. It made me think, i have the same bike , build 95, for 5 years now. But i wonder: should i keep and maintain it or sell it and buy a modern bike that handles more smoothly. At the moment i runs well., but i find it outdated and and don't want to put money in it, its 25years old. A reply would be appreciated.

You see, Erik, it's a collector bike now. Every year its value increases because it's a rare and desirable model. My 2014 vfr 800 feels not too far off, meaning they both feel good on the road.

Its a good bike, no need to sell a good reliable bike. and they are still very well received if you are worried about something like that, old isn't always bad.

Does this make for a good 2nd bike? Coming from a Ninja 400. Love the look to this bike. also, how much should I expect to pay for one of these?

Be prepared for an additional 150lbs of weight. It makes an amazing 2nd or even 1st bike. The price varies. I bought mine with 12k miles for 3k. I saw examples with 7k miles for 3,500. On the other hand, people try to push 35,000 mile examples be 3k dollars. As a personal rule of thumb I'd buy sub 20k mile example for 3k at this moment.

Where do you find these bikes for sale online? I'm thinking about getting one of these for a second bike (my first being a Royal Enfield INT650). I'll probably have to lower it due to being 5'7, but aside from that it's got everything I'd want (80s/90s styling, V4 engine, great power)

That was craigslist. I searched the whole country when I was looking for one. Found it in CA at a very random and small dealership for a steal (at this moment) price.

@@REDonVFR Sounds good, are there any other online sites good for buying motorcycles? (My first one was at a dealership, so I'm not used to this) Also, what's the practicality/difficulty of turning a VFR750 into an RC30 replica?

@@gmoroder the other 7 bikes I bought using the FB marketplace. I heard people do replicas on FB in vfrworld and vfr750 groups. Check them out.

@@REDonVFR Will do. Lastly, how hard and how often is maintenance on these bikes? Could I do it myself, or would I need a specialist? (And how hard would it be to find someone who knows what they're doing on the bike?)

@@gmoroder It depends how comfortable you are working on the bike. I do everything myself. Make sure if you're buying the bike you get the tools that come with the machine. There is a quarter circle looking tool that is needed to adjust the chain. It can be purchased also. I remember doing the brake pads myself when I bought it. Back then I never fixed anything on cars or bikes. But I did it well first time. 😀
