Kennedy and Lincoln received bone marrow transplants at a very young age (Kennedy 11mths and Lincoln 3mths) to slow down progression of the disease. There is no cure for MPS 1 Hurler Syndrome. When we were able to come home from Cincinnati (post transplant) with our daughter Kennedy, we started The Kennedy Ladd Foundation, Inc.
The Kennedy Ladd Foundation, Inc is a 501(c)3 non-profit to raise funds for research to find a cure for MPS 1 and to provide iPads to Hurler patients going into bone marrow transplant. Kids with MPS 1 have 3 options. 1-transplant before the age of 2 (in most cases after the age of 2 the disease has done too much damage) 2-Enzyme Replacement Therapy (an artificial enzyme infusion, done weekly, for life) 3-do nothing (Bodies will deteriorate and usually pass away by the age of 5-10).

Big girl tears 😢 It must’ve brought up Some emotion hearing those things. She seemed to really get upset when talking about her being away from you and Lincoln. I also agree with your method of talking about things and not hiding it. It certainly may bring emotions but it keeps them from an emotional build up when they find out everything and then having horrible beak downs and hidden anxiety. ***our Kennedy dealt with her trauma as it came and is so much better overall-I always told her everything 🥰

It is so hard. Tears are heartbreaking for us because she is so sweet and obviously we don’t have the answers of why this is happening to her. We always said we wouldn’t lie to her. It’s harder trying to explain things in her terms and why she is going through things that her friends don’t. She it typically a trooper and she always gets a prize on the hard days 💕

I have to tell you that this was the worst video you have done. The kids noise was impossible to hear you with! It was a very obnoxious and it drove me right of the video. Please try to make it more conducive to hearing for my old ears. I love you and pray for you, please keep us up to date.
