I understand this snowy shape as a result of heating? I want to know how the heating process has been done ? Please need more clarification.
@TheFunGun5

I believe it was becasue too much resin was poured at once. The curring process generates a lot of heat and if too much resin is used at once it can boil the resin.

It's a vacuum chamber. It wasnt really "boiling" the resin. More like it was sucking all the air out of the solution and caused a bubbling effect.

I'm confused. Why was the epoxy boiling? I'm not familiar with working with with it, but considering doing many projects on my house with it in the future.
@jannesyrjala2606

some epoxies start to boil if you pour it too thick or too much at a time. Thin layer and let it harden between layers. It all depends on what epoxy you use
@kristinamclain3770
@kristinamclain3770 4 жыл бұрын
The epoxy wasn't boiling, persay, what was happening is there was air trapped in the bamboo sticks that was escaping and that was causing the actual air bubbles. All epoxy has a chemical reaction that causes it to get extremely hot in the curing process, which can make one think it was "boiling" but I assure you, it was not doing such a thing. If the epoxy would have been poured in stages, at under 1.5 to 2" in depth, those bubbles could have been avoided.

I have worked with resins, the problem has been that it has gathered resins in different drying stages. The peculiarity of the resin is that it heats up when it dries. Your resin must be for artistic use and by a different catalyst or resin than the one I have worked with. It has not burned spontaneously. In my work due to carelessness, a resin cube has been burned. The next time you do a resin project, I recommend that you do small amounts and allow them to harden, and so on. Another solution is that when you do a project like this with a mold, do not put the amount of catalyst that the manufacturer says, I advise you to put half or 1/4 of the catalyst, this will make it dry more slowly and prevent it from heating
@balogunayodeji969
@balogunayodeji969 Жыл бұрын
If you use a wrong ratio of catalyst to mix resin, will that cure the mix properly? I believe it will leave the work messier, I stand corrected though.

The chemical reaction that happens 2 part epoxy's working time has expired and the hardener begins to react(setup)with the resin is exothermic (exo) meaning to give off, thermic (therms or heat) this exothermic chemical reaction especially in non deep pour varieties have a direct volume to energy given off. To simplify the more you pour the hotter it's gonna get and it's volume is also directly related to the working time exponentially Decreasing the time in which you have for degassing, adding colorant, you won't have time for anything else other than positioning any components you have

I don't think that your resin boiled. Your sticks had air in them and it leaked into the resin. If you watch carefully the video you can see the bubbles coming out of the end of the sticks. If you examine your sticks carefully you will see that their center is porous and that's where the air came from. If you want a clear crystal project don't use porous material or anything that can have air pockets in them or if you do seal them first.
