I have a V600 I used to scan film negatives. It’s pretty fantastic.

Always great to see a new review. Vuescan is pretty amazing, I used to use it back in the day and it would work fine even with a Canon scanner made '00. The developer is probably doing a lot for the environment considering most people would be perfectly fine with their old flatbed scanner in terms of quality for document and basic images were it not for the planned obsolescence of being unsupported by newer software releases.

I can’t believe that printer/scanner software and hardware is still such a pain in the ass in this day and age, it’s always been flaky to get these things setup. Wanted to start digitalising loads of old photos, docs, negatives, slides etc but the cost of a good scanner is really high like this V850. My current Epson is from 2001 and is pretty much unusable for that sort of thing.

Try VueScan with your old scanner! You really don’t need off the wall resolution to get a decent digital image!!

And that carpet is now long gone and replaced with lovely gray flooring. Next is furniture, but I think a new Mac Studio will slip in prior to the sofa...

0:49 Are those multi-units better for docs? I've always had a flatbed for all scanning and a separate B+W laser for printing. I use Simplescan on my Linux computer that can even identify my Canon LiDE 300! I agree... Who uses install ROM discs, lol.

I will say, having that automatic sheet feeder for documents is a really great feature. That printer was new in the box and rotting in my offside storage unit for many years. I’m using a generic driver for the printing, and then VueScan is able to handle the scanner part as well as the multi doc feeder.

@@GaryBeltz Catalina = Scat-alina / Big Sur = Big Slur / Monterey = Monster Lay / Ventura = Ven-Whora and Sonoma - I'm making this one up right now - 'Sono' in Italian means "I AM' and "MA" is slang for "Mother" -- as such, Sonoma is "Your Motha...."
