Alex Epstein is a philosopher who applies big-picture, humanistic thinking to industrial and environmental controversies. He founded Center for Industrial Progress (CIP), a for-profit think tank and communications consulting firm focused on energy and environmental issues, in 2011 to offer a positive, pro-human alternative to the Green movement.
Epstein discussed his book The Moral Case for Fossil Fuels at Bethel University on Oct. 17, 2016.

Alex is preeminently endowed with incisive understanding and depth of knowledge, combining history with science and economics, explained in an intuitive compelling way I've not seen in anyone else. He truly is an heroic voice for the cause of human advancement. I wish him much continued success.

Alex has a really great ability to keep his attention and focus on the big picture and the most fundamental and consequential issues. I like how he's answers questions in very positive ways that promote discussion rather than promote anxiety and anger thru insults or sarcasm. Ultimately, his honesty really stands out above everything.

I lean left on most things, but i am more likely to listen to Alex than anyone on the left now. He can make an argument like an adult. The left has lost it's mind.

25:24 As someone who works in the solar industry it was very hard to learn that the group I decided to align with was anti-human. But being able to step back and do unbiased research there is no other conclusion. What Alex is saying is true. I hope the girl in this exchange see's this one day.

That young woman who interrupted to tell Alex how to conduct his lecture/Q&A was extremely rude. Either a professor needed to tell her to shut up, or she needed to be escorted out.

At 14:44, Alex should have pointed to the history of failed predictions of top oil, coal, etc. instead of asking the student for the statistics.

Yes, in the 70s, they all said we would be out of oil, coal, and gas by now. And then they all got sweet heat government jobs!

those coughers were Trotsky plants who stayed up for days out in the cold to subvert Mr. Epstein's presentation by getting all congested up...because they had an insider that knew all about the horrible acoustics in the lecture room...Epstein seemed to be a bit rattled and unfocused after the woman interjected and he said 'are you the judge' , and he maybe felt bad that he snapped at her...'cause he is such an upright guy, truly focused and humane to the core...

I recently published a rebuttal to Alex Epstein's book titled "The Immorality of Arguing That There's a Moral Case for Fossil Fuels." At the same time it also rebuts a book by Kathleen Hartnett White of a similar title and proposition. It is preposterous to claim that there is anything moral about fossil fuels, and to claim that we owe any debt of gratitude to gasoline/diesel/coal for enhancing our lives. If a debt of gratitude is owed, it is owed to the inventions that utilize various fuels...regardless of what those fuels are. The inventions were all created without consideration to any specific fossil fuel. Internal combustion engines, for example, were created before the invention of either gasoline or diesel petroleum fuel. The steam engine was not created because coal was available. The fact is that fossil fuels have been the cause of wars, disease, and ecological and environmental disasters. Every significant war in the past 104 years has been caused by petroleum oil. Tens of millions of people; no, make that hundreds of millions of people have been killed in these wars. To the war dead-toll we have to add the people who have died as a result of the illnesses caused by the use of petroleum oil fuels. Then there's the life-long injuries and disabilities suffered by untold millions more. There's nothing moral about any of this. Previous attempts to rebuke Mr. Epstein and Ms. White, such as the one written by Jody Freeman, have failed because the writers have little understanding of the issues. You can read my complete rebuttal at www.theautochannel.com/news/2018/02/19/511177-immorality-arguing-that-there-s-moral-case-for-fossil-fuels.html. Marc J. Rauch Exec. I think you should go live close to a wind farm like I do. You will learn very quickly about their impact on the environment and bird life. I've saved a few hawks but owls, eagles, hawks, robins, sparrows, etc. are typically more dead than your ideas on how to move forward with energy. It's ass clowns like yourself that have never lived close to a wind farm that tell us how great it is. Get off your dead ass, move close to one, then report back. You'll be singing a completely different tune, guaranteed. Is there a reason you don't allow rebuttals to your thoughtless essays? Never mind, it's obvious ass hell.

Joel, what did I write in my post or rebuttal to Alex Epstein that made you think that I was referring in any manner to wind generators? As for allowing rebuttals to my essays, thoughtless or otherwise, all you have to do is scroll down to the bottom of any one of the more than 2 million pages on The Auto Channel website and click on "CONTACTS." Then you'll have my email address and you can rebut as much as you want. The reason we do it this way is because we like to know who is communicating with us, and by using email instead of Disqus or something else, we get information about the senders. But, you'll notice that you had no trouble contacting me via this process, although it was "obvious as hell," and you could have also gone to our Facebook page and sent a message. But then if intelligence was your strong suit, you'd have already understood and agreed with my published story about Alex Epstein's absurd view of fossil fuels.
