I'm a James Brown loyalist, but as far as musicianship is concerned, Ray Charles may be the baddest cat to ever grace the planet. Piano playing, singing, arranging, orchestrating.....no one has ever had such an incredible combination of talents.

I remember watching the Carson show that night. The band, Johnny, the audience, everyone, was in awe of Ray's transcendent talent.

Thank you SO MUCH for putting this up. Does your VHS tape also have the song that Ray opened with that night, "I've Got News For You"? Ray was on FIRE that night!

He was beyond great. Willie Nelson said that when a group of recording artists got together with Ray the best they could hope for was second place.
