Equatorial Guinea is one of the most puzzling countries in the world, with everything from coups involving Margaret Thatcher's son, to firing squads in Santa outfits operating in the country. However, far more worrying than that is the economic cliff the country seems to be barreling toward, with the industry, worth 90% of their income, announcing their departure from the country in 2026. Will Equatorial Guinea be able to steer the country away from the cliff? Will the Instagram star VP successfully transition into his father's role? And why is this country the strangest one we have ever covered? We ask our panel of experts.
On the panel this week:
- Perri Grace (Geopolitical Analyst)
- Max Lawson (Oxfam)
- Florent Geel (Fmr FIDH Dir. Africa)
- Emilia Columbo (CSIS)

I just came across this channel on accident. This content is incredible. The content, the information provided, the clarity, the production value, all of it is just mind blowing. I was expecting 300k subs if not 3 million. 33k? This is a travesty. You are supplying extremely valuable information about the world that it isn't possible to get anywhere else in a condensed format. Thank you. I hope you grow more, you deserve it.

This has been the most negative review of this country I’ve heard. While there was tribulation by the first presidential rule, this country has found its way back. After the discovery of oil, the proceeds have been reinvested in the country’s infrastructure, education which has yield 90% plus literacy of the people, state of the art hospitals etc. this review of this country is not substantiated.

Actually it's Eritrea is the North Korea of Africa. In Equatorial Guinea, looks like a Democratic but Absolute Presidential Republic. If it's Still under Macias Nguema's Presidency..it's a North Korea of Africa

Botswana is less corrupt than Italy. Ghana, Senegal, South Africa and Benin are less corrupt than hungry and Bulgaria, Ukraine, Serbia, Albania, Turkey. Give it 20 years and many African countries will be wealthier, safer and more democratic than many Eastern European and balkans countries.

Benin has a lower murder rate than Uk, Sweden, Slovakia. **Algeria has a lower murder rate than France** so does Burkina Faso. Ukraine has a higher murder rate than Zambia (& Zambia has no wars). I could go on but I’ve proven my point.
