I love all the.wonderful information you teach all of us, your awesome thank you. I’ve been training dogs and cats for 30 years. I just find whatever the animals currency is then I use that in their individual training. This truly works best every time.with a better experience for all involved. I would never make an animal have fear of being harmed by me ever. Animals I’ve found once their basic needs are met will gladly do whatever makes us happy. Hoping if we are interested enough to learn what makes the animal happy aka their currency figure out what their have really pure intentions are want to please people. and if their happy mostly all will happily make the people who should care for them, show them love,feed, and play with them. any negative tool used for negative a correction to intimidate them into compliance as its being trained to trust a person who is flipping a whip in front of you and all around you while you’re trying to make your person happy and then put in my lunch with Alhe training whip necessary for every horse can’t even train was just a long rope I just don’t feel right about a whip on a horse or any animal and I have a horse he’s trained I didn’t training but I’d like to work with them and I don’t really want to use a wet but I want to keep him up-to-date on his training I have a gypsy Vanner he’s on 1000 pounds he likes treats and listens really well what do you suggest is it absolutely necessary for every horse to be trained with the whip please advise me I’m new at this I’ve only had him for two months and Shamus is the best animal ever?

Hi Lora! I would make sure the horse has adequate shelter, safe fencing, and no poisonous plants to eat 😮 when my parents moved to their farm, they had red maples in the pasture, not knowing that they were poisonous. One of the horses ended up getting very sick because of it and they had to remove the trees. Best of luck with your land!

Hey, your videos are really helpful, I've just subscribed your chanel, so thank you for your tips, but I've got some questions: first of all, what do you do, if your horse always comes in to you while lunging (and so I'm afraid he steps on the rope or something like that), and I would also like to know how long your lunging rope is approximately (cause I have a really long one and it just really disturbs me). Thank you so much for your answer in advance! Greetings from Budapest ☺️

Thanks for your support! I usually use a 14 foot lead rope if I’m doing groundwork. The horse is cutting in towards you by dropping their inside shoulder. You can point your lunge whip at their shoulder and wave it if need me to get them to move that shoulder over and keep them from cutting in!

@pestilence654
@pestilence654 2 жыл бұрын
Sounds like he needs desensitizing training. He probably has had bad experiences with pressure from behind and thinks that all pressure and touch is going to be harmful. Best thing you can do it resting the whip on his hind and keeping the aura in the training calm. Tell him he's a good boy in a calm voice and when he doesnt bolt pet him, give him a treat, and give him a break

This video was super helpful! I'm trying to teach my young horse to lunge and most of the time he is pick it up well. But, he pulls me very hard and is constantly tuning his head away from me and trying to force me into making a bigger circle so that I can't reach him to turn him into me. I can't figure out how to keep his head forward and with a slight inside bend as the more I pull the more he does and he definitely can beat me in a game of tug of war! Anybody have any tips on how to get my horse to look forwards and not pull his head around?
@CarmellaAbel
@CarmellaAbel 3 жыл бұрын
This is where disengaging the hind end and getting the horse to yield their hindquarters will help. Instead of trying to move the horse’s head towards you, try and move the horse’s rump away from you. This will inevitably make their head turn toward you

How do you get a horse to lunge that just stands there facing you and when you try to move to his side, he swings his hind away and faces you. Pressure with the whip and he stands stock still, shoulder taps with the whip and he just stands there. I tried having him hold still and me move to the side out of exasperation to try to get him started and it worked for two steps, then he faced me again and wouldn't move.

To get things straight: -I am assuming here that he panics, even if you hold the whip still in his general direction. -I am also assuming that your horse is a he, so bear with me if he is not. I am not a native speaker so I do have my issues with calling a horse 'it'. -I am just a normal person without any professional experiences with horses, but I did have the same issue with a horse, that I taught to lounge (with great success). -I do not know what kind of experience you have, so I might give a little more detail than neccessary That out of the way I do work with my horse with the principle, that he should not be respectful of the tools that I am using, but the pressure I am putting on him. Therefore, if my horse is afraid of a tool in my hand, I usually double check first, if there is anything wrong with my body-language. If I am confident that this is not the case, I will 1.: let him check the tool out 2.: pet him with the handle first (so the whip is pointed towards the ground behind you), more or less as if you wouldn't have anything in your hand at all 3.: slowly use more and more of the whip to brush him over his lower neck and back (if there is a long string, it helps holding that at first, so it does not scare him) - If he is moving away from the whip, don't follow. Give him time to get settled, then try again. 4.: get him comfortable with you touching him with the whip at the a-bit-more-vulnerable spots, (like the upper neck) ...all while constantly praising him for what a good boy he is. This sounds stupid, but is really important. The next step might be a little bit over the top, but it works for me (I usually don't do this on the first day tho): Wave it around with no real purpose, while standing next to your horse. Be careful not to be focused on your horse while doing this. Maybe hit a flower, that you don't like. something like that. Be gentle at first, and increase the tension according to your horse. If your horse starts moving, make a break. As soon as he stops, he should be focused on you. That is when you praise him and give him a chance to come down. If he is not focused on you, do a trick or something with him that he enjoys. If he is focused on you after that, praise him. give him a break and start over. As long as he did not have particulary bad experiences with a whip you should be able to even wave the whip over his head within a couple days, if your bodylanguage is right. Note that you should not do that for too long at a time. If you feel like you are getting frustrated, do something else. It is not about progress, but about a relaxed athmosphere between you and your horse.

My horse only walks when I walk first and then follows me. No amount of tapping on his rump gets him to move forward. I could do this for minutes without him making a single step :,)

Do horses know how to jump? Or do they just have that instinct?

Some horses have the 'courage' to do it, and they learn that they get a treat of some kind when they do it correctly, but others will shy away from it, causing the rider to have a negative reaction sometimes, therefore furthering the horse from being around jumps. UvU *Knowledge*.
