This video provides instruction on how to replace an ECT sensor on a Chevy & GMC 2.4 liter Ecotec engine. In this video, I replace the engine coolant temperature sensor on a 2016 Chevy Equinox. Symptoms that a vehicle may have a bad ECT sensor include.
- The radiator fan runs on high all the time.
- The radiator fan continues to run, even after the vehicle has been shut off and the engine is not running.
- The engine temperature gauge doesn't register a temperature and stays on C.
- The air conditioning unit is disabled.
- OBDII Code P0119: Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor 1 Circuit Intermittent
- OBD2 Code P0128: Engine Coolant Temperature is Below the Thermostat Regulating Temperature

If anyone is curious about the torque specification, the manual states it is 16 foot-pounds.

YES YES YES .EXCELENT VIDEO. I am 83 years ond did this job on my 2015 2.4 equinox. I am short,so I had to put a bunch of quilts on my engine and lay on it. I couldnt get my arm thru the bracket that you reached thru. I took the bracket off.. My FANS WERE STILL ON. i HAD TO CANCEL THE PO128 CODE. ALL FIXED. BUT MY RADIO AND DASH SCREEN WENT BLANK BECAUSE MY BATTERY WAS ABOUT DEAD. CHARGED THE BATTERY AND DISCONECTED BATTERY FOR 20 SECONDS ALL WOKED PERFECT THANK YOU THANK YOU

Would have been great it you demonstrated/simulated outside the vehicle as to what the orientation of the sensor, retainer tab , not and tool are ( which way everything is facing). .. kinda still struggling to get connector off sensor
