We have known Draws and Arena in the last part of WTF Sparring Rules, Now let’s Start with “DOBOK”
During the competition, the Contestants must wear WTF-approved DOBOK, Chest Guard, Head Guard, Gum Guard, Groin Guard, Forearm Guard, Shin Guard, Hand Gloves and Sensing Socks (in case of using PSS) before entering the Field of Play, Head Guard must be firmly tucked under Left Arm when entering into the Arena and will be put on the head following instructions of the Center Referee before the start of the contest. Shin, Forearm & Groin Guard will be worn beneath the uniform, Wearing any item on the head other than the head guard will not be permitted like- Hair Clips, Hair Pins.
Cadet players may have Face Shield on their Head Guard.
Any religious item will be worn beneath the head guard and inside the DOBOK and will not cause harm and obstruct the opposing contestant.
Now let’s know valid techniques
In WTF Sparring competitions only Straight Punch is allowed in Hand Technique and any part of the foot below the ankle bone in Foot Technique.
Now let’s know Valid Areas for these attacks
Attack by Fist and Foot technique on the areas covered by the Chest Guard However, such attacks will not be made on the part of the spine and the area above the color bone. Only foot techniques are permitted.
Now let’s know Valid Scoring Areas
The Blue or Red colored area of the Chest Guard and the entire head above the bottom line of the head protector, You’ll get Point only when a valid technique is delivered to the scoring area with a proper impact.
1 Point for a valid punch to the Chest Guard
2 Points for a valid kick to the Chest Guard
3 Points for a valid turning kick to the Chest Guard
3 Points for a valid kick to the Head
4 Points for a valid turning kick to the head
1 Point awarded for every one “Gam-Jeom” to the opponent
Now let’s see Prohibited acts and Penalties
Penalties will be declared by Center Referee with Gam-Jeom.
Objectives in establishing the prohibited acts and Penalties are to ensure the player’s Safety, fair competition and to encourage appropriate techniques.
Crossing the Boundary Line
Falling down
Avoiding or delaying the match
Grabbing or Pushing
Kicking below the waist
Hitting the opponents head with the hand
Attacking the fallen opponent
Attacking after “Kal-yeo”
Aiming the kick below the waist
Lifting the leg to block or kicking the opponent’s leg
Lifting the leg or kicking in the air for more than 3 seconds
Butting or Kicking with the Knee
Not complying with the referee’s command or decision
Inappropriate protesting behavior to officials’ decisions
Inappropriate attempts to disturb or influence the outcome of the match
Provoking or insulting the opposing player or coach
Unaccredited Doctor/Physicians or other team official found to be seated in the Doctors position.
These all comes in Prohibited acts and Penalties, now let’s know Penalties more closely.
For crossing the Boundary line, a Gam-jeom will be declared when both feet of a player cross the Boundary line. No Gam-jeom will be declared if a player crosses the Boundary line as a result of a prohibited act by the opponent.
Gam-jeom will be declared for falling down but if a player falls down due to the opponents prohibited acts, Gam-jeom penalty won’t be given to the fallen player, while a penalty will be given to the opponent. If both players fall as a result of incidental collision, no penalty will be given.
Grabbing includes any part of the opponent’s body, uniform or equipment with the hands. It also includes the act of grabbing or hooking the leg with forearm.
Pushing the opponent out of the Boundary line, Pushing the opponent in a wat that prevents kicking motion or any normal execution of attacking movement.
Attacking after Kal-yeo requires that the attack results in actual contact to the opponent’s body, if the attacking motion started before the Kal-yeo, the attack won’t be penalized
If an attack after Kal-yeo did not land on opponent’s body but appeared deliberate and malicious the referee may panelize the behavior with a Gam-jeom.
