I am really excited to see Redcat come out with a high end rig like this. There is a lot to like about this truck and i see no reason why this is not on a lot of peoples Christmas list, I am putting it on mine for sure. As Always Greg a fantastic video!!!!

Rich Homan Thanks! Over the years shops have asked me why car manufacturers can’t release a RTR with high end electronics as an option. I guess this proves that they can and judging by everyone’s response other companies should do it too.

@@marccyberwiz Redcat said the entire first shipment was sold before they set sail. Second wave coming in February. I snagged one of the last ones on eBay. You can find them on other sites but they are marked up.

Love the look of it very good looking truck. Like your idea of the lights thing that would be a great point. Like the video of ya taking it out on the trails nice scenery all the natural features of the landscape. You do a great job.

I know you don’t like the cold but I live in south FL where it’s warm all the time but there are no rocks... I would take the cold just so I crawl on some actual rocks again!! Lol Great video and review Greg!! See you in the next one :-)

Great idea using the nuckles as part of the shock tower mount. It'll make the long knuckle stronger for bushless.

Ive has a Hobbywing Axe system installed in a trx4 and an Hpi Venture, it’s the system that is loud not the gearing. With a Holmes hobbies puller pro both trucks went super quiet. Honestly I am surprised that Redcat had the audacity and wherewithal to do this first, way to go and good on them!!! It’s about time underdogs pulled the carpet from the big dogs, can’t wait to see how the top brands react if they do. I hope this truck sets the pace to something new just like the trx4 redefined the crawler market

Awesome review wow that kit looks great. I can’t believe they changed all that and didn’t update the tire foam. Definitely some serious upgrades thou. Making me wish I didn’t buy the first version. Great job on the video. 👍👍

Definitely a game changer for RedCat Gen8 for sure. Great review . For the loud noise on my Gen8 I use shipping foam sheets and line the inner side of my roof and hood area and it quiets down quite a bit. Once again Great lookin new RedCat Gen8 and Great review.

Greg you need to come to Australia next winter, I live in western Sydney where I it was 35c today, which is in the 90s Fahrenheit I believe. Nice and warm and there are lots of places to drive RC vehicles too. By the way great review, I love these videos and your website!

i run the fs gt5 and i love that radio set up its amazing for the price point and they put it in an rtr which is sweet makes me want to go get one and all the improvements has me looking at them now cause i sold all my crawlers and im getting back into it i just finished my tow and recovery rig and need something to put on my trailer so that would probably be a cool addition

As a graphic designer myself, "about fricking time" for the new logo. Ha. Next, the company needs to work on their photography, because the official photos don't do the corn havester justice. Seeing it here made me go from meh to WOW. Oh, and as usual, five stars for your walkthru. You are truly on a roll.

Great truck! I own 2 Gen 7pros, Blue Gen 8, Camo X4, and soon a new Gen 8 AXE! (giving one of the Gen 7 pros to a friend who helped me with home repairs which also empties a spot on the shelf for the new Gen 8 AXE). ;-) I have other non Redcat trucks too, but I find myself driving them the most for one reason or another. Also on the winter release issue: Redcat and I live in Phoenix, AZ right now in early December it is 75 degrees for the daily high and the best time of year to hit South mountain park with the trucks! Plus in the winter all of the rattle snakes are hibernating. MOD list for it: 1. Dual stage foams 2. remove spare tire 3. Front skid to protect steering arm 4. Ummmm??? Nope good to go!

Drive cup/bearing on the portals looks just like the TRX4. They’ve done a good job on this price point, but I’m glad we decided on the TRX4 sport kit. Seeing what stress Kevin Talbot put on the TRX4 drivetrain I’m glad I got the TRX4. I may get the Axe body though!

Wow! It's amazing how much they improved. I love when companies actually respond to customer feedback. Too bad they missed the foams though. QUESTION: Is the top speed about the same as the previous Gen 8?

I think it's slower. I did see in one video that boiling the foams in water for 5 minutes each softens them up and fixes the issue.

Great video as expected Greg this is a very impressive rig Redcat really stepped it up and the price is great for everything you get this is easilly an $800 rig I want one and I'm a chevy junkie this will be my 2nd Redcat International I have wendigo another great rock racer I sensored the motor tho still super fast and slow for tech driving, you have great crawling skills I only do it when necessary 😎👍

I can verifiably say that the Gen8 AXE edition now comes with much better foams in the tires. I put them in the freezer for an hour, and when I took them out they were just as pliable as they were before I put them in. I have a love-hate relationship with certain Chinese companies. On one hand, they listen to the customer base and fix issues their products have. On the other hand, you never know what you're going to get because they make running changes to their product lines without changing SKUs. I'm glad I got the better foams in my tires, but who knows what you might get in your box -- it depends how long it's been sitting on the shelf.

Metal mod1gearing is loud. My gen8 PACK got louder when I upgraded to all metal gears.

The new logo is a welcomed change. the old logo made the brand appear to be toy-like. I do not have any redcat products, but if I was getting into the hobby today, Id pick this one up.

I have a Gen 7, a Gen 8 standard, and now I’m thinking about adding another cat to the stable. Nice video and good job Redcat! My buddies hate it when my cheap’o redcats out perform their more expensive Axial and Traxxas trucks.

Its all aboouuutttt the driving. A true driver knows that and you should be fine out driving them with their own vehicles, I've never had a gen 8 keep up with my scx10 ii.

You should always run your foams firm rear medium front from a CI foam perspective. Firm rears acted better on under cuts and take most of the pressure climbing. Also for off camber side hilling the side wall won’t roll over. I’d say leave the firm foam in and add a open cell on the outside to creat more give in the center while maintaining firm sidewall.

That radio is also multiple model as well.. i just recently got one.. just add addition receivers. Bought the radio. For an scx10 hw1080 esc upgrade. An attempt to upgrade the ecx temper to have more grunt. Motor or lipo wise or both. But first car its going to be attached to is a tamiya wild one..

Axial Deadbolt SCX10 2 offers a soft top as well. This was a sweet location any chance of telling where this is? Really did well out there!!

What are the methods of softening the foams? I cant find any info on it. My foams however has softened up a ton and now cold weather doesn't effect them at all. they are super soft in all temps. All i did was use them. got them wet a little and there good.

I like the loud gears my self, My other rigs are build as newer vehicles being a couple jeeps and a twin hammers so its like a scout would be. Slow and noisy! lol

Yeah can’t really minimize that sound from the gears , even if you pack it with more grease. I’m just thinking its a RedCat signature purr. Awesome rig.
