Cross-collateralisation is often a way to help manage the equity of multiple properties, but it comes with a whole host of rules, advantages and disadvantages.

Just be be clear , cross collateralization is an active conscious option/choice correct? It isn't automatically done by using the same lender when purchasing another property?

If an existing loan has motor vehicle as security (eg. Reg # HI123) & later the customer takes another loan for reg # me122. Acc for ME122 takes cross deed over acc HI123 despite ME122 being sufficient enough collateral to cover debt for this account. In the event, HI123 gets paid off, does acc for ME122 still holds priority over HI123? Is it legal to hold HI123 as collateral thought Acc for HI123 has been paid?
