Double board certified OBGYN and REI, Dr. Natalie Crawford, answers the question, “Should you get the ERA test?” If you are going through IVF, you may have heard about this test. Dr. Crawford reviews several studies on the ERA test and gives you the information you need to decide whether this test is for you or not.
Questions answered:
What is the ERA test?
What is IVF?
What is the difference between a fresh and frozen embryo transfer?
How did the ERA test come about?
What is recurrent implantation failure?
How is the ERA test done?
What do the studies say about the ERA test?
What are the concerns?
Is it a valid test?
Who may be a candidate for the test?

That was sooo informative! Thank you! I’m going into IVF in a few months and this really helped. Can you do a video about IVF before 30? I’ve been ttc since 23 and I find that there’s not a lot of information out there for younger people. Should I do genetic testing, do I have time to wait or will infertility get worse with age and what if anything is different about IVF under 30?

Wow, that is was so informative! I was team ERA before transferring to increase our odds as we only had 3 normal embryos and wanted two or three kids but actually seeing the stats on it makes me second guess myself. I've already done the test and I'm 2 for 3 on FETs working but I wonder if my failed one would have taken under a normal timeline instead of the ERA adjusted one.

Thank you for the video. I have endometriosis and had 2 failed medicated FETs with euploid good quality embryos... I feel that there is something that my doctor and I are definitely missing because everything looked good before the transfer. Besides a whole bunch of bloodwork for immune system/nk cells, etc. I took the decision to do the ERA test as well as Alice/EMMA. I also had a very bad skin reaction to PIO shots, so not sure if for the ERA mock transfer we should try with a natural cycle instead - my dr. said that whatever protocol we decide for the mock transfer should be the same protocol we decide for our next transfer. Any recommendations? Need some more advice before deciding which protocol to use...

Would you ever recommend ERA for thin lining? My dr keeps pushing it but I shut it down because of your information on this subject. I have a persistently thin lining (4-6mm, even during my egg retrieval cycles never got past a 7), have had 2 canceled FETs and my dr is pushing ERA as an option to see what's going on. He's also floated the option of a gestational carrier, which I think is wild considering we haven't even TRIED a transfer yet. So I guess my 2nd question is do you ever recommend a gestational carrier for someone with a thin lining? I'm only 31 and really don't want to give up on my own ability to carry my own child, yet.

Have you seen patients who don’t get a LH surge on Letrozole? Would you recommend switching to Clomid for IVF?

Do you have a video on Adenomyosis? I have been TTC for 2 years I’m 29 with low AMH and possible Adenomyosis. In October I started seeking fertility treatment, I’ve had bloodwork, HSG, and ultrasounds and my dr said I have low ovarian reserve my AMH is .81 I am on cycle 2 of clomid and every time I go in for a scan or ultrasound I see Adenomyosis written on the papers that are sent to the drs. Was wondering if this affects fertility and what I can do to get pregnant with these issues. Are there certain vitamins I could be taking for this? Thank you so much for your videos. ❤

I have a history of multiple miscarriages. I have only done 1 FET (with 2 excellent quality embryos) that failed to implant. I had the ERA test done. They recommended 132 hours between trigger and transfer. But I was also told that 0 strains of lactobacillus were found. This concerns me more. How do I get lactobacillus inside my uterus? Probiotics don't travel through the blood stream. Used as a suppository the cervix would still keep out the probiotics except maybe during ovulation. Any suggestions? This is my 3rd fertility clinic (IUIs at 2) and the lack of lactobacillus is the only thing that any of the doctors I have seen have been able to find that "might" be the cause of my infertility. I have had every test done that they can come up with. Unexplained infertility is always the answer I get. I only have 1 more shot. 2 "good" quality embryos still in the freezer waiting for transfer.

I'm not a doctor but i've seen various blog posts about this on mumsnet with some women having success by using oral and vaginal probiotics, particularly containing lactobacilli crispatus. Some also use vaginal lactic acid to alter the ph of the vaginal canal. I have no idea what the academic research is on this.

Hi Doctor , My wife(29 yrs) is 10 weeks 4 days pregnant and her TSH is 7.29, T4 : 0.86 ng/dl. Blood Group B-, BP-120/70, B.W - 59 Kg. Hemoglobin : 9.80 gm/dl. ICT - negative. This is our first pregnancy, and we are worried about her elevated TSH levels. She was prescribed Thyroxine 25 mcg/day. Is this the right dosage? (cause we googled 2 mcg/kg/per is avg requirement), As we mentioned it is our first pregnancy we are really worried, So we would be really appreciate more insight on this issue.
