Eren didn't transform and kill all the "civilians" until Tybur and all of the other world leaders announced they were going to genocide everyone on Paradis Island. You can't really be surprised when a group of people you're trying to wipe out fight back. Rules in war are different from rules in peacetime. Frankly it was incredibly strategic and probably saved a lot of lives. The killings of the generals and all the other war hawks bought Paradis time to avoid an all out world war.

First he lost his home, his mother, and saw countless innocent people suffer and die. He was thrust into a cruel world. Then he gained power, and a target on his back, along with pressure to use it for humanity and never fail. His allies requested more and more of him, and in his times of doubt, pain, or stress, kindness was never what pushed him forward; instead he was lectured, harmed, criticized, or his allies died due to inaction or the wrong choices. No matter what he did he was always put under pressure. And now he has done what Armin goaded in the first place, he abandoned pieces of himself. The countless lives being taken due to his choice, it's something none of us could ever reconcile doing but we know he has no choice. Even if peace was on the table, the road he had walked was paved from the beginning. By others expectations, and then by his own future self. He knows what he must do and he won't falter, but I'd bet that no one hates Eren Jaeger more than Eren Jaeger. Facing a battle only he truly understands, no matter how many supporters or enemies he has, he's alone.

He was meant to represent that core block of shonen heroes who believe that power is everything and that they will destroy their enemies and it allowed Eren to grow up into quite the fanatical extremist, and dare I say it, terrorist. I really hope that with this second cour and the season to follow it that people begin to see the show and manga for what it really is. Might I add that this passion to see the outside world is strong enough for a man with 1 arm and 1 leg to sacrifice himself for the man that gave him this passion, and his last words are of this passion. Finally, in currently the latest episode of Attack on Titan (as of fall of 2018), Eren, Mikasa and Armin are having a discussion - Armin says 'I joined the Scouts so I could see the outside world.' With hesitation, Eren looks away and nervously agrees 'Yeah you did...' I believe this marks the point at which old Eren begins to die - old Eren fully dies once they reach the sea and Eren points down the horizon and says 'so if we kill the enemy on the otherside [of the sea], will we be free?'

Thanos is characterized, in the movie, as a man who literally gains ultimate power and doesn't abuse it. He has his goal (wipe out half the galaxy), he obtains his means (the stones), then he achieves it (snap of a finger), and then he goes to his farm and relaxes for a job well done. He sticks to the random selection to murder indiscriminately, and then does no more than what he intended. And his motivation is justified when they show the results of his home planet ignoring the over population. The planet falls to chaos and everyone except for him dies. It was, personally, a breath of fresh air to see a Marvel movie that was not a heap of garbage for once. Edit: Also I never read the comic but I doubt they will do a good job with their 2nd movie. Unlike those autoproclamed avengers who are just stupid traitors who kill their own childhood friends that wish for their freedom to help the people that wish for their death since years. Just because their lies didn't work. They're prepared to talk to people who kill/wish for the death of the eldians of paradis but they kill their old friends who just does what they have to do to protect them. Killing is bad but Eren's not doing it for a stupid ideological reason like "saving the world because yeah killing is not good, let's talk". No it's simple: freedom. Whoever wants his and his loved ones' freedom taken away from them will pay it with their lives. He was prepared to live/die with this sin. While those cringevengers do the exact opposite of what their principal goal is. Well there's no evil or good in this story so it's debatable.

@@objectoriented3049 For now they are because their military was destroyed, but the Paradisian "hero" eradicated 80% of the world so I can't imagine that those alliances are in any way sincere. Eren didn't just commit mass murder, he committed omnicide. I feel like a lot of this fandom don't understand just how gigantic and irredeemable such an act is. We already consider serial killers to be irredeemable, but what Eren did was on another level. It's not murder, it's not serial killing, it's not mass-murder, and it's not even genocide - it's borderline omnicide. For thousands of years humanity will not forget what he did and their memories of him will be the opposite of positive. He will be hated. The mere thought of him with spur feelings of murdererous hatred. He will literally be remembered as a devil and I can imagine that everyone associated with him - the Paradisians - will be remembered the same way. Regardless of whether the titan curse exists or not, especially as long as Paradis puts Eren's actions on a pedestal, the world will not be happy with Paradis and they will use their greater population to destroy them. Not immediately, because again their military was destroyed, but you can even see in the panel where Levi, Gabi, etc. are walking through a street there's a plane in the sky, everything is rebuilt. A lot of people say that no one will hate Paradis because of the lack of the titan curse but I find that naiive. In the real world people did and do hate groups of people for much pettier reasons so I don't see how the disappearance of the titan curse will change anything.

most people believe that war is good guys vs the bad, but fail to understand that everyone who takes up arms believes they are doing what's best for themselves or for others. Even Nazis felt that the extermination of the jewish people would save the world. When people come to understand this they also come to understand that all wars are about different point of views. They aren't necessarily evil, they just think differently then we do. History is written by the victors and history is full of liars. When taking up arms you don't know whos life you are gonna affect by pulling that trigger, the people who die in war aren't the only ones affected but everyone involved with that person. Violence begets more violence and war brings more war. At the end of the day people don't just pick up arms to fight and kill innocents because they are evil but because they truly believe they are right and justified. Good and bad are all prespective who is to decide what is right? What if being right meant the genocide of entire race? What if it meant doing nothing against evil? Nobody can understand what's right or wrong no one can its incomprehensible. If you were told to kill a child because it was right then would you do it? Nobody can explain why things happen what if the Nazis killed off an entirely worse future war lord one that would later cause the end of the human race? Does that make what they did right? Did that make what they did okay? We can't answer that. That's what makes human beings neither good or evil at the end of the day we can be neither.

His goal is the ultimate freedom and he moves forward, executing the plan to the end. I feel lost, excited, upset, worried and I just DON'T KNOW. We haven't heard his thoughts for a while now. Its weird thinking of how small their battle was inside Paradis compared to what they are currently facing rn in the manga

I know right? I read the manga as soon as the last episode because I couldn't wait and my whole perspective has shifted in a huge way. I recall to very impacting and emotional battles that happened earlier in the series and although they felt so important back then, they seem so tiny in the scope of things now. Like, them finding out there were Titans in the walls was such a huge feat yet it's a common knowledge in the rest of the entire planet. Pretty sad, crazy and awesome at the same time.

Yeah things were simpler back then. Now they're stuck in a situation where nobody knows what to do (except Eren). Even Hange, a great analytical commander, is racked with stress over this.

@@CHRISCAMPO-wq8bi I'm wondering if maybe, it's because they are still so close with Eren, they kind of wait to learn what he wants and plans to do. They have mixed feeling towards him and his actions and they just don't know if he plays solo now or what. I think it would be much simpler for them if Eren wasn't so involved. They don't know if to trust or not trust him and have no idea if he's still on the same side as them. Eren on the other hand maybe wants to keep them out of this as much as possible. Truly a pickle

Eren’s journey is one of the best I’ve ever seen in all of media, not just manga/anime. I remember the early days fondly where people praised the side characters of AOT but hated the character of Eren, calling him one dimensional, one note, and bland. Oh how times have changed. And I’m loving it.
