This isn't a hot take because so many have said it before but Eric Bischoff is so much better on this show (and other shows) than on his own. On a show Eric and Conrad taped right before the last AEW PPV, Conrad made it a priority to point out all the stuff going that night(college football mostly) and that he was gonna make time for World's End because it looks that good. People forget the only reason wcw went away was because Eric couldn’t get a tv deal. They were still making money when they closed. Tony hasn’t done any of this. Tony, reading would be your friend

He claimed back in 2018/2019 that he wouldn't make the same mistakes as WCW did (focusing on beating WWE/F instead of focusing of themselves, hiring a bunch of old washed up WWE talent, failing to build up midcard talent, etc.), and for the first two to three years of AEW he kept that promise fully. Fast forward to 2024, and he's made all the same mistakes WCW did, only he didn't do them as well as WCW. AEW started as a revolution, and turned into a knockoff WCW.

I think the thing the smarks don't really grasp is that pro-wrestling isn't just "a business", but it's a very particular type of one. It's a carnival, where every booth is out there trying to maximize their revenue. As a fan from the 90s, it's still incredibly surreal to hear people like Bret Hart and even Disco and Konnan talking about drawing money, or about "making money" with an opponent. There's still some part of my brain for which it's still real -- like, yeah, the outcomes are pre-determined, the belts are props, and all that, sure, but these guys are out wanting to, like, win or something. But they want to make bank. It's a hard business, a risky business, and everyone who steps between those ropes is looking to maximize their earnings, and are specifically thinking about that on a week-by-week basis. This isn't the way most people look at their jobs. It's the way business owners look at their businesses, but not the way your average person looks at their work environment. Wrestling is a business where every wrestler is a business wo/man. And that doesn't mesh with the smark view of the industry.

So what happens when marks and promoters/smarks along with CEO's can't tell the difference between a work and real life? Because all you are seeing is a dead business with all these people clucking like chickens to each other to keep it alive for some coffee money, rubbing each other as "experts" of companies they killed off. Khan talks & acts exactly like Bischoff, Cornette, Russo, Vince...take your pick. He does exactly what they did. He says exactly what they say. To be hilarious, I would absolutely tell Khan to walk out and discuss how he is doing everything exactly the way the "great minds of wrestling" did it (and totally do the finger air quotes). Then turn and stare directly into the camera for 10 seconds. Totally deadpan. This is "wrestling" now. Then again, it has always been this way. Theater. Look at it like this...this is the most heat wrestling has had in years upon years. The zombie husk of WWE that Vinny Mac abandoned at the trailer park tripped over a curb the other day on the way downtown...and nobody even came to pick it up. Even Disco is pulling some real actual industry heat. Of which I personally think is great. I never thought a day would come that Bischoff and Russo could ever pull relevant heat again...but here we are. "Bitter Old Men Yelling At Internet Clouds" heat. A work that works. All thanks to Tony Khan. When you can work workers working marks that easy, it would appear Khan does understand wrestling, when everyone ends up carrying water for him. Works upon angles, wheels within squeals. He hands out the heat, they give it back. Simple system really. One that works.

Eric is brilliant on every other podcasts that he appears in. He is allowed and able to speak of his experiences and knowledge he has gained over the years, whereas at "83 weeks" that is no longer the case."83 weeks", initially it was great, but now it's mainly that Eric does not properly get to talk about and elaborate his viewpoints, knowledge, and experiences. And in all sincerity, he has far, far more experience running a wrestling business than others at 83 weeks. Hopefully, he'll return to this podcast more often and/or appear on other podcasting channel more often

If I had Khan money and were in charge of a company like AEW, Bischoff and Konnan are the exact guys who have been there and done that I would want in charge of booking and storylines. Right now, Tony should really turn his attention inward and poach wrestling people who can utilize the talent he already has and make the shows better rather than hiring ex- WWE and NJPW castaways expecting them to move the needle.

I dont think there is anything admirable about some teenage mark playing word association. It's the definition of fantasy booking... "if i had WCW i would have called the show Dynamite cuz its on TNT" All it proves is that he's been a corny hack since middle school.... the fact that he has the bank account to make it a reality doesn't mean shit.... if i was the kid of a billionaire i would have used all the same sht i came up with then too... because i would have had no reason to ever disregard them as possibilities. It's easy to cling to your childhood fantasies when you don't have to worry about struggling through anything or having to earn a chance to make it happen.

ACTIONS will always speak LOUDER than words. Tony's actions, Eric's actions. I don't care what they say, its what they DO that matters. I like these guys, but I just feel they are continuing to live a mindset THEY had decades ago as if it is still relevant today. I'm the same ages as them and i know what they mean, BUT i also know from a fan standpoint that it does not work anymore and it is something i'd like to see again also, but THAT time is long gone and will never return. Eric is provoking Tony because he knows a mark when he sees it too. Eric says hes not bitter, but he sure keeps on to Tony quite a bit. He has seen PLENTY of marks in his time. Not all were performers. Tony opens himself up for all these things to occur because Tony glad-happily puts his own face in front of everything. Media scrums, house shows,, even on TV hes there 2-3 times a show just announcing an upcoming match.. and then stares at the camera blankly grinning with no teeth for the whole rest of the session. He seems to think he is part of the talent.

There's no way in hell that Tony disrespected the great Ted Turner... At least Ted Turner hired geniuses in the beginning because he knew that WCW has to compete with WWF Back then, to each it's own and everybody knows made great television but at the end WWE always wins

Yep. Ted Turner loved wrestling (and probably still does) but he knew better than to try and run WCW himself. Ted hired other people such as Bischoff to run it for him. Tony Khan should hire some people who know what they're doing and take a step back like Ted did.

I really don't think AEW has a bright future. I mean right now, can anyone at all predict what AEW's biggest match is? I'm not even saying this to come across like a hater but AEW currently has zero big matches, at all.

Man would love to see a semi regular show with you guys and Eric. Maybe like a monthly or quarterly round up in video form. Eric with Conrad is great but Conrad seems to take the heat out of every chat with tedious do-gooder nonsense. Not the case here. No one comes close to the chemistry you all have together.

15:45 collision has not progressed one storyline besides FTR in months. Completely UNWATCHABLE. Was the best pro wrestling show on TV 5 months ago with 600-700k viewers. Not it is completely garbage how could I ever switch off NFL playoffs for it?

While I agree Vince, Eric, and Triple H wouldn't be on social media while running a company and interacting with fans and ticking them off absolutely Paul Heyman in the old ECW would because that's the type of character Paul is. I saw Heyman cafab Stephen A. Smith on First Take while Riman was just Roman.
