I am a Chelsea supporter of over 30 years and I saw Hansen and cantona both play and know they played in a very slightly different era but I think cantona would have got the better of Hansen almost every time. As I think the united team of the 90s was far better than Liverpools 80s team.

well firstly i have seen them live so i dont just see them on tv, as for my local team as i stated before football is costly to see on a weekly basis and i wasn't aware of my local team as being in a lower division and never being taken to a game to see them so i never had the oppurtunity really to support them, as usually your are introduced to your local team from a parent however my dads local team isn't mine so he couldn't introduce me to them.

Paul Scholes on the Robbie Fowler podcast said the Hansen's comment didnt annoy the utd players. In fact he said Utd were appalling in that game and Villa wiped the floor with them so nobody disagreed with Hansen and it was probably a fair comment to make after the game. Nobody expected that group of players(class of 92) to be as good as they were.

yh the north has many teams maybe if i was brought up there and taken to local games maybe then i would have supported them, the fact is that my local are crystal palace who were in the lower division and as i was never taken to a game of theirs and as there games werent televised or they were never mentioned i never knew them, the reason i supported utd was because of the way they played, the spirit they have, the character they show much more to do then mere trophys as u try and put it

It was Aug '95 Hansen made that comment. It's the 92-93 youth side that Utd built their success on. The Nevilles, Butt, Scholes, Beckham, Giggs and the £1.2 million Cantona was signed the year we first won the Prem..a year we spent less than £2.5 mill in total on transfers.

Whilst I respect what your saying, there's evidence that wont happen. We remember the 05/06 season. A league cup only. Chelsea looked really strong but we fought back, we overcame them. We lost out to city and came back. If it was ever going to happen we'd have seen it. I think liverpool will do well this season, would be nice to see them and tottenham up there.

Msec ,the reason the Utd attendence has doubled because the ground capacity has increased , best supported club in England in terms of people going through the turnstills for the last sixty years. MUFC had the best supported team in England when we were in Div 2 for a season and more than City when we shared Maine Rd after the war .I know it's hard to stomach for all the Utd haters,but we were the biggest club before Munich and always will be.

Hansen = 8 league titles, 2 FA Cups, 4 League Cups, 1 Super Cup, 6 Charity Shields and 3 (Yes 3) European Cups and served Liverpool as a regular player for 14 years as part of the most successful football team in English History! Compared to Cantona = 4 League Titles, 2 FA Cups and 3 Charity Shields and serving Man U for only 5 years (only a total of 6 years in English football if you throw in his time at Leeds). I think you can see who has had "more impact on English Football"
