Eric Clapton once said referring to John Mayer’s guitar playing, “I don’t think John knows how good he is.” A serious compliment!

In that same statement Clapton said Mayer was a “Master Guitarist”...even better than just “ I don’t think he knows how good he is.”

Yeah he's had serval quotes float around about John Mayer that were more than favorable. He kinda says those kinda things about all of his musical peers, though. Clapton's just a class act in terms of how he carries himself and talks about others. Just a good dude. Though, John is, objectively speaking, one of the best ever. Seriously. He's criminally underrated by some of the general public cause of the, admittedly very douchey, image he gave to the press and public back when he first got really big and men in the early 2000's were jealous of his talent and looks. But to the music lovers AND those in the music industry itself, he's held up as up there with the best. I mean, he was in the top 10 of Rolling Stones' 'Top 100' list like 8, maybe 9 years ago. So there you go. That's really all you need as they have been the true arbiters of those type of lists since forever. If anyone needs proof, just tell them to ask ANY random guitarist if John Mayer is one of the best. Guarantee you they'll say yes. If they don't, they've never listened to him and DAMN sure never tried to play any of his songs. His songs are.....definitely not for beginners. I'll say that. Hah.

That feeling was "Humanity", and you are thankfully thankful that you experienced it. I have taught music and IT for the past 40 years. You are yourself the Master when you teach what you have been taught. You must give everything you know away to the wind to clear your mind for new knowledge. Everything is a circle - what you send away returns with new information, endlessly.

When the wind blows down this hard, Many a bond is broken. See the water lie on the ground From where the heavens opened. Lord, how will you get through this night With your dreams departed? And who alone will comfort you? Only the broken hearted. So you've gone beyond your means, Every wound is open, Your best laid plans are out of reach, And all your fears unspoken. Lord, how will you get through this night With your dreams departed? And who alone will comfort you? Only the broken hearted. Sweet revenge is spoken then; In the twilight it is gone. To living lies with no escape, Lord, I would rather be alone. I press my fingers to the wood To tell you of my dreaming, To sing you songs from olden times, To keep the love light gleaming. 'Cause there's a place where we can go, Where we will not be parted. And who alone will enter there? Only the broken hearted. Only the broken, broken hearted [Repeat: x4]

Clapton was quoted in Rolling Stone magazine in 2005 that John Mayer was one of the most gifted Blues guitarists he's had the pleasure of playing with.He went on to say that only one other time in his life had he encountered such talent at an early age.The other gentleman he was referring to was Stevie Ray Vaughn. That's a pretty heavy endorsement from a pretty heavy hitter.

john mayer is one of the few people today who takes his music seriously. he's mainstream but still puts his soul into his music. most artists today are either untalented, or they waste whatever talent they have to fit in with pop culture and they become "propaganda" as you'd call it. hopefully you're right when you say he'll become a legend, it's hard though because a lot of people overlook his talent and dismiss him as just some regular artist.

Hahah he's unreal man. It is a VERY easy mistake to make though. He just played a note in the minor scare a half step too early. If he had done that exactly a half step later it would've blended in A LOT better. Very common mistake in songs like this one. Every player makes that one every now and then, just gotta listen to them often enough to hear the mistakes!
