This was his heart-wrenching ballad and a memorial to his 4-year old son, Conor, who tragically died in a fall accident in 1991 in New York City. It’s difficult not to feel his grief, guilt and anguish in this song over the loss of his son and his poetic vision of meeting him again “in heaven”. When he says “cos I know I don’t belong here in heaven.” That line of self blame is astonishingly cruel yet understandable as a father of a young son myself. As a parent it’s that thing that lingers over us and we dread more than our own existence. But he experienced it.

Oh my. This brings back memories. We saw him in a tour aftet he started back once this tragedy happened. He sang in the round,acoustic. Words wont describe. Lucky to have seen ec 5 times. One of my idols since Mayall. Then Cream and onward. Always a 3 or more hour concert. A master.
