So Schmidt is saying that with all of the power of google they cannot retract a gun design from the entire internet if they wanted to or at least make it inaccessible?

What a prejudiced host, don't you find? Why would you invite Eric Schmidt and pound him on every point?

For absolutely no reason this guy is being insulting. I like how Eric couldn't give a shit about his views and neither does the audience. They didn't acknowledge a single comment by this guy

Noses Malone Exactly, and also, there are people complaining about the Host? How about the narrow-minded and presumptuous and stereotypical view Eric Schmidt has about anyone that is different to the typical American internet user of the 21st Century - obviously people in different countries, or different cultures and in different states of living (e.g. in conflict zones) are not going to all use or experience (nor wish to do so) in exactly the same way. The silly buffoon. I agree with you, the host was refreshing and not afraid to show he disagrees on quite a few points (rightly so!).

Anyone else notice how there is a distinct difference in class between the American and the Brit? The former calls anyone or any country that isn't the same as him or his country (whether by political system, philosophy, belief system, culture, society etc.) as ''wacky'', ''stupid'' (e.g. 24:56) etc. Conversely, the Brit has a little more manners and etiquette to realise that just because others have very contrasting ideas to you, it doesn't make them stupid - note how he avoids commenting on or agreeing with the ''stupid'' remark at 24:56. Eric Schmidt, at least in this video, shows himself to be the very epitome of the stereotypical view that so many non-Americans have of characters like him as the 'arrogant American who thinks if one doesn't think exactly like him then that one is inferior or wrong'. You have to have a very inflated head (and narrow mind) to think like that. You just don't call people ''stupid'' or ''wacky'' and expect to come across professionally. It's not very proper. At least it seems the Brit represents himself in a much more professional manner. You just don't go in front of an audience or viewers (especially a diverse one with different ethnic groups) and call names about certain people because they don't share your views. What's the point of a technology that is being portrayed as a way of reaching for new levels of freedoms, when everyone who chooses to use it or apply it differently to you is considered ''stupid'' - where's the freedom in having to use a technology in exactly the same way as someone else? It's a very amateur mistake to call names based on being different. Moreover, it reflects very badly on him as a person and an American to imply that everyone who doesn't think exactly as he does or as the Americans do about these ideas is wrong (or worse, ''stupid''). There are 7 Bn people on this planet, like he said - you'd have to be naïve to think all 7 Bn will ever think the same way about any given topic (I guess you might say now THAT is stupid!).

Just think of these lectures given by billionaires in terms of the money. For instance, on stage in this one is one worth $8.2 billion; each individual person in the audience probably has a higher-than-normal salary of $50 thousand or higher. Google is obviously going to multiply its riches (I assert it will be the first trillion dollar company) because it made its success in such a short time, and it kind of owns the internet- the glue of the Age. So, he literally owns the audience members.

well here is a question: is ignoring the ignorance, of a man, an act of ignorance ? or a smart move ? In order to filter all of his comments, that are driven by a arrogant ignorance towards countrys that did not fully surrender towards the religion of ruthless exploitation. in between those "statements ", that clearly show a thinking that is driven by stereotypes, there seems to be valuable information. sometimes,...
