I so appreciate you and the others that make these tutorials. I am not a good person for sewing but since I found your post I have made a few items and find myself really enjoying it. I live on a fixed income and have to buy things when I find them on sale, I also have come across some tutorials that want you to pay for their patterns. Absolutely the best tutorial for making a bag with a lining and inside pocket I've ever seen. It had terrified me to make anything that looked so complex before seeing this video. Love this bag Erica. The outside pocket is great for holding your knitting/crochet pattern so you don't have to stuff it in the bag, especially if your using one of the magnetic boards for holding your pattern. Great job as usual.

Thanks for the tutorial and pdf! I like that you used batting on the outside pocket and then the foam on the body of the bag. The bag is sturdy without being too bulky!

Okay, so I completed this bag this afternoon, and for the longest time I tried to figure out what I did wrong. When it was all completed, and by the way, great tutorial, my box bottom would not lay right once I pulled it all inside out. My front pocket was now inside out and on the back of the bag. I believe when I was boxing the bottom, I allowed the front pocket to lay folded to the wrong side when I was setting up the box fold. I'm going to make another, but future makers beware to watch the direction of front pocket when setting up a your box fold on the bottom corners. Really appreciate the work that is gone to to complete all your video tutorials. Each one of them are done very well!

Yes, you do need to make sure the front pocket is on the front of the bag before boxing the bottoms!

Thanks Erica for this great bag. I made your squishy bag and it goes with me constantly as I keep my crocheting in it for when I go to craft group (we sometimes crochet hats for the newborn babies at our Mater Mothers Hospital) also other small crochet projects, or on the train etc. I will make this one to keep other on the go projects. I have just recently tried my hand at paper piecing and it will be great to keep all my gear together and ready to just grab and go. Plus I can keep a snack and a water bottle with me too. Love it.

Love this bag. I’ve made bags for years and your tutorial is very easy to follow along with. Your a very good teacher! My mistake in the process was not paying attention to the boxing the corners. My hand slid INSIDE the outside pocket during the process and not knowing this till I turned it right side out and found my scrappy front pocket with the lining facing out. LOL. Everything was perfect up to that point. I’m keeping it this way just to remind myself. 🤣🤣

I only have smaller zippers on hand..so I followed all your instructions only omitting the Zipper and its still pretty DARN cute!!!!...Thank you for teaching me how to make this adorable bag:)

As long as your zipper is longer than the width of your project you can. If you're making this bag and you have a zipper that is 12" or less then no, it won't reach all the way across.

Great bag and great tutorial. Erica, I followed your tutorial on free-motion quilting on my granddaughter's Alphabet quilt by Lori Holt. It has turned out really well. As you suggested, I just went for it and didn't stop until it was done, it's not perfect but I'm really pleased with it, and unless you look really closely you can't see my mistakes. I think it's easier to just use fabric zipper stop tabs at both ends of the zipper rather than have to fuss with it while sewing around the edges of the bag. Overall, cute little bag. I'm saving this one for my bags and totes file. Thanks for sharing.
