The poem 'In Memoriam Erich Kästner’ by the unknown poet "F.R." was published in the German-language journal 'Orient' in 1942. The 'Orient', which appeared in mandate Palestine in 1942-1943 before being blown up by revisionist-Zionist opponents, attracted aggression from the latter movement due to its use of German language and its self-defense against the 'collective guilt' of the Germans in the times of National Socialism. Through this poem Gardei explores the critical perspective on Kästner presented in the poem and which created a controversy in the journal's staff.
