the atenna on the side is the Rf sensor , whiles the metal plate in front picks up the E-Fields by some coupling (capacitative)probably . the inductor which looks like a resistor actually can pick up low frequency magnetic field . anyway i would not trust to work with a machine like that . the ranges seems poor to be honest . anyway great vid .

If you treat these things for indication only i.e. a field exists and it is weak or strong then you can't go far wrong. Even if it was calibrated (if it is actually capable of calibration and I doubt that it is ) without a probe it is pretty useless outside of general indication of a field. On balance, probably a waste of money - it's falling into the toy category. It would be interesting to hear the response of the manufacturer .

Hi, I measure the "inductor" and reports 30mH, so I really believe that is an inductor, has that greenish color of the inductors, in terms of quality, again, radio waves and that kind of stuff requires a lot of knowledge that right now, I don't have the time to learn... that's why you never a saw a spectrun analyser on the bench 😁 thanks for watching!

It has a zero function, but not calibration. I will stop accepting these kind of devices. They are a headache....

@@TechCornerTV Yes ! Best to stick to what you are good at . It's too much of a specialist area. Maybe the company will come back with a response but I doubt it.

Hi Hugo, congratulations for achieving the 5000 subs . I have heard about a new DSO called Zeeweii dso3d12 and I thought if you will get one for review cause I am on the edge of buying one or at least plan to buy one during singles day or black friday sales.

Hello! Sorry for late reply, house move and vacations. DSO3D12 is on it's way to the workbench to be tested 😁 should arrive first or second week of september, we will have a video about it then. Thanks for watching!

Thanks for the review. I think this product does have some niche uses but it’s hard to tell whether the values it give are accurate or not. I don’t know much about this type of tech either. But, perhaps the reason why it doesn’t measure from far distance, is due to the product not wanting to pick up “noise”, such all the mains powered products around us, which may affect what you are measuring. Although they could have solved this by letting you filter out a certain bandwidth.

Noise goes with the territory - you have to have some idea where noise may be coming from. If you test something near a source of noise then the manufacturer can't account for that. The designer is most likely going to design the equipment for the widest bandwidth possible to make the equipment as useful as possible. You need a small probe to have any chance of getting accurate results. The best way to shield from noise is to shroud the electronics from it. From what I could see from the open case there was no evidence of any screening whatsoever. You get what you pay for - sometimes not even that.

Hi, very true! I understood that on the RF part, was clearly picking the signal of my lapele mic, but this is not a real isolated lab, so is more a showcase. With all it's problems, I do think it's a cool device to have around. Thanks for watching!

@@TechCornerTVFurther away sources should be less of an issue - they drop off significantly with distance (square law) so your mic probably is the big culprit as it is usually a very local source causing everything else to be swamped - weighing everything up around you is key. I remember many years ago two guys trying to set up a satellite system on a ship - the signal was poor they complained but frequently became very strong and the couldn't understand it. It turned out they were using walkie talkies (that is what we call them in the UK anyway they may be called something different in other countries) to communicate between two decks on the ship ! Every time they pressed the walkie talkie button the signal strength meter shot through the roof ! As soon as they stopped talking their signal strength meter was reading virtually nothing. A quick trip up to see exactly was going on led me to the problem straight away !

HOW ARE YOU DOING THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEO ON YOUR YOURTUBE CHANNEL I WAS GOING TO ASK YOU ABOUT ONE THINK I HAVE A ELECTRO MAGNETIC EXPOSURE FROM WORK ENVIRONMENT AND I WOULD PERSONALLY LIKE TO MEASURE THIS IS THIS IS SAFE OR I WOULD NEED TO USE SOME SAFETY MEASURMENTS ALSO I WOULD LIKE TO RECORD IT - AND HAVE A JOURNAL OF HOW MUCH EVERY DAY AND WHAT TIMES I HAVE THIS EXPOSURE ON AROUND THE AREA WOULD YOU RECOMMEND ALSO SOME SPECTRUM ANAYLZER AS WELL CONNECTED TO A EM METER THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME LOOKING FORWARD TO HEAR FROM YOU BEST

Hi, I it will probably detect. But if your health is at risk, you should invest in a bit more robust device that can give you better information, since it is your health at risk. You can use a spectrum analyzer, but to record it, a good device like this can record for some time. For example (in a different field) the FNIRSI radiation detector can log the results for long periods. Hope it helped. Thanks for watching.

All you can say is it senses something. It's doesn't appear to be following a square law relationship You really need a probe to get anything like a sensible reading. I think the mG is mili Gauss. You must be having a bad day - that "inductor" at the end of the video looks like a resistor to me !! I would get a new microwave if I were you 😁

Hi! You're right on everything! This is what hurry does and also, I got stop accepting these devices that are out of my normal knowledge, I'm no stupid and learn fast, the problem is with new new electronics lab/new home (I should move this month, hopefully), the channel and my own work, at this moment I can't research and do proper videos. Only show the devices is not enough. Lesson learned, head up and move on, thanks for watching and sharing a constructive comment. PS - I opened again the ER02 to make sure it was an inductor, it is, is L1 and measured with Shannon Tweazers reported 30mH.

I remember when I first started electronics many years ago, I thought the “resistor” I was measuring was shorted out. Took me a while to figure out that it was an inductor 😂. Anyway, as Hugo mentioned one way to easily tell that it’s an inductor is that it’s usually coloured Green, unlike most resistors that are blue or beige.

There is nothing wrong with the microwave as they all give a very high reading which is why it is not advisable to stay close to one while it's cooking.
