So, here's the story behind Suikoden I The creator of the series was asked to do an RPG for the Playstation, and so he wrote up a story, characters, setting, and so on for the game. But after looking at it he realized that the inexperienced team he had probably couldn't pull it off the way he wanted, so he wrote a second, simpler story to ease his team into the process and introduce the players to the setting he was planning to use. Suikoden 2 was the story that was written first- Suikoden 1, written later, was the one Murayama thought his team was capable of making at the time.

Parasite eve 2 can be beaten at around 4-5 hrs depending on skill level and of course NG+ weapons : ) like the gunblade or the hypervelocity railgun! The controls do take a little to get used to but the game gets pretty good when you get into the groove of it!

Granblue Fantasy Relink is my favorite short JRPG.

I follow another channel who is really into Vandal Hearts and I'm surprised to see it here. Doesn't it have multiple chapters full of long battles, near the length of Final Fantasy Tactics (a 30+ hour game)? I guess that's the difference a strong narrative without much faffing around makes.

Vanguard Bandits has some different endings. So the replayability is huge. But there's a main ending to the story

If you arent afraid of patching games to english, Noora and the Time Studio for the DS is a wonderful game that is like an Atelier game but done by Atlus. You can easily beat the game in around 11-14 hours.

Grinding in Ys the ark of napishtim is what pushes the playthrough up the the 15 hour mark?? do you know anything about games? yes, that game was brutally hard compared to other Ys games, but there is no way it takes less than 15 hours. Even with a guide you have to back track and can even get lost in certain dungeons. Then theres the fact that you NEED to grind to certain levels, since being 1-2 level below the "invisible" level requirement will get you slaughtered. once you level to that invisible level requirement, the current dungeon you are in will become easy. By the time i completed the first dungeon, i had already put in 3 hours of game play

I beat Sakura Wars V So Long My Love in 30 hours (first playtrough, Gemini route), so i think this game is ,,medium long'' , devinitely this is not ,,short'' JRPG (it's also one of the longest VN games). Especially when you want see every ending and cutscene / event in this game, so this game is 60 hours to complete in 100%.

i always thumb down your videos where you claim games are short or CAN be short. what the hell are you talking about with growlanser II not being more than 20 hours? i love that game, but it sure as hell isnt less than 20 hours. Takes me always near 40 when i play through it (which ive done about 6 times)

i fully believe you dont even play games, that you get your info from reading online crap. White Knight Chronicles (part 1) took me over 40 hours. There is a TON of backtracking, and the dungeons are long and confusing. yes, im convinced you are full of it

Whaaat, "Best Short RPGs" but no Contact, not a single entry from the Zwei Series, no Xanadu Next, no Terranigma, no Earthbound, no Breath of Fire, Landstalker, Eternal Sonata and so many great more games are missing. Instead, i detect tousands of trash games... which are not even true rpgs, just stupid Hack'n slay - and still, they're crap, not what should be listed as "best" JRPGs.

Now THAT'S a list with variety, not unlike what most RPG-based KZfaqrs do (especially the gaylord one who had a fit with Erick over some trivial thing that one time lol) Hey, that one was a jerk towards me on one of his videos a few weeks ago, so I have no issue calling him that in his back, or even in his face hahaha
