Midsummer, Swedens real national day, its the longest day with not much night. Love it!

From Italy directly to Sweden - couldn't have chosen it better than with Tommy and Erik. Welcome back - and Glad Midsommar. 🎶

Sometimes I think it's amazing that the Church manages to, almost, eliminate the beliefs in the Nordic Gods, but having people to not believe in the entities that live in the forest or in your house and barn never really went away. My grandmother in Sweden used to tell the most amazing stories about Näcken, Vittra, Älvor , Vättar, Tomtar, Troll, Bergsrået, Skogsrået and so many others. So as a kid I always tried to find them out in the woods.

Happy Midsummer from Stockholm, Sweden! Erik does a really beautiful version of our national anthem in this one. Fun fact, this song is not officially our national anthem (we don't have one actually), but it has become the de facto one, just like with e.g. Finland and UK. 💙💛💙

As I understand it, Norway, Denmark, Finland and at least Latvia scare away their witches at midsummer with fires (I don't know how it is with Iceland and the other Baltic countries?). In Sweden we scare away our witches with bonfires on April 31, so we can instead concentrate on what is important at midsummer: making fun of the French (the little frogs) while dancing around a big phallus and drinking schnapps. Skål!

Sweden isent dark 😂 just up north its dark and cold

The fact is that it isn't Swedens official national anthem. The swedish government has several times voted down appeals to make it official. The reasoning is that the sing so deeply accepted as a national anthem and therefore they won't make it official by a law. Sounds strange? Well, we are a strange country :-)
