1. Anderson and Condon carried that squad; Karlsson just carried the mail. 2. Every playoff run by Ottawa in the last decade was a fluke borne of hot goaltending and puck luck. 3. The hilariously stupid Duchene trade tore Ottawa apart. They bought hardest when they should've been selling hardest.

I watched every single game of that Cinderella run on the edge of my seat. "This is the year, this is the year, THIS IS THE YEAR!!". My heart dropped to my feet as soon as I saw that puck leave Kunitz's stick, somehow I just knew that puck was going in. In my heart I think i knew that even if we made it to the finals, we probably weren't gonna beat Nashville who were on a Cinderella run of their own, but GOD i wanted it so bad. I wanted to say that my Sens won the cup. For the better part of 6 years Erik Karlsson was without a doubt in my mind the Best Offensive Defenseman in the NHL. Yes he was a Defensive Liability more often than I'd care to admit, but his job was to put up points from, well the point. Not to mentions one of the most dynamic skaters i've ever seen play the game of hockey.

That was a crazy year five Canadian teams in the playoffs. Sucked that 3 were eliminated in the first round and only 2 moved on and in the 2nd round a lot more expected the Oilers to move on then the senators. That year everybody especially me wanted a Sidney Crosby vs Connor McDavid Stanley Cup Final which would’ve been a superstar showdown for the ages. Then the Oilers lost to the ducks then the senators moved on. My heart sank when Kunitz scored on that shot which was a knuckle puck that Anderson had no chance on the way it went in over the shoulder.

I feel so bad for Senators fans because they're such passionate die-hards (in my experience). The real shame was how foreseeable it was. The Hamburglar and Condon hot streaks caused mirage fluke playoff runs for a team that couldn't defend or score--much less both at once. The Duchene trade was arguably the hardest buy of that season, based on how early it happened, for a team that should have been selling hardest.

@@mikeoshea12 Yes, and that something was to sell, not buy. Those are exact opposites. Instead of losing Bowers and two picks (including early first round) for Turris, they could've gained a ransom from Nashville and jump-started the overdue rebuild. dean marriott u are crazy. Doughty and burns never should have won the Norris. Karlsson should have won 3 years in a row with out a doudt

Dean - You know nothing about hockey. Every player in NHL would agree on that.

@@lillzico77 Ok. Whatever you say. EK still sucks. SJ has buyers remorse already.

@@iansabourin8446 I agree on Burns. DD should have 3 Norris trophies. Watching Karlsson play in the Pacific reaffirmed my belief he is a one trick pony. He has been exposed by the rugged Pacific division. My guess is he never plays more than 60 games in a season again.

@@deanmarr785 No, he's been "exposed" by having half of his ankle bone removed.

Who cares about those plays because you lost! Reminisce once you actually win something.
