Biniam Girmay, a 24-year-old Eritrean athlete has scripted history after winning a stage at the Tour De France In Italy. He became the first black African to win the stage after defeating British cyclist Mark Cavendish. He is also the third African to win the Grande Boucle after South Africans Daryl Impey and Rob Hunter. Soon after his victory, Girmay took to social media to say “Let me open the door. It means a lot personally for me and the continent of Africa.” He eyes the Paris Olympics next. But, the Eritrean cyclist's journey to success was not easy. He had to leave his home and shift to Europe to achieve his dream and make his country proud. Watch our video for more.

You misunderstood her. She's saying Black African, because there are other Africans who are not Black. For example, people in Northwest Africa & many in South Africa are not Black. Congrats to Biniam and his huge achievement. 3 wins at this Tour so far. 👍🏽

The coverage of the story is BS. Where do you get it he has influenced by the Slovakian Cyclist. He never mentioned that. Eritrea is the Cycling pedal of Africa. Cycling in Eritrea has a hundred years history, in the 1960's Eritreans were participating in the Olympics. Most of the African Cyclist Champions are from Eritrea. Currently, Eritrea as a country ranks first from all African countries for almost a decade. Biniam Girmay lives in Asmara, the capital of Eritrea. He goes to Europe professionally. He never moved to Europe. You have not covered the story properly. Shame on you!!

Dance, food making , dressing , etc. Never forget religions carry lots of culture with it when expanding . I highly admire and apprieciat Orthodox christian in Eritrea apart from the teaching Faith ,in preserving my language, moral and faith of Eritrea. Of course our fore grandfathers were such brave people with a great wisdom. Thanks bro
