Obviously Wilson wasn't in attendance. But there is massive irony whenever his name is connected to African or Latin American issues. He was worse than just a massive racist. He was a frivolous warmonger who campaigned as a pacifist isolationist. His history books are full of racist stereotypes and conspiracy theories. (Anyone who claims him as a serious historian is going to have a hard time explaining his title card in "Birth Of A Nation"). He was hated by Princeton students...he banned student clubs, fired teachers who disagreed with him, and forced everyone to live in cramped dorms. He was considered a good speechmaker but a pseudo-intellectual at best, a man who'd flip-flop on any issue if it would get him votes. On issues like free speech, women's rights, child labor, and WWI he'd play one card, then suddenly switch or pressure the Supreme Court to rule his earlier decision unconstitutional. A lot of what is wrong in America was either started or expanded by him. He pushed the idea that blacks were best off as slaves. He was absolutely vicious in his comments about them and nearly ever other ethnic group, like Irish or Germans. His influence on the Versailles treaty set the stage for the Nazis to take over a beggared society. He created the Federal Reserve, which is still beggaring our society. He created the first Red Scare. He gave segregation a firmer legal backing than it ever had before. Most extraordinarily, he seemed a-OK with supporting the worst domestic terrorist group in U.S. history, the KKK.
